On Thursday I was making my way to the Ding Dong Lounge and was admiring the city and kept thinking about how much I love it at night. I don’t know what it is but the city at night is amazing. I met up with Jenny, Susan and Julia and we stood outside the venue which is in one of those little lanes. Jenny and I were looking at the set times when this random man started talking to us. He asked us who we were there to see then told us his son was in one of the bands that were playing that night so we asked him about his son and Jenny tried to find a photo of him on their myspace page. She found a photo of a guy and asked the man if that was his son. It wasn’t, there wasn’t a picture of him on the site so it got awkward and we went back to Susan and Julia. I saw one of my family friends outside a restaurant, she was there with her work people and asked me what I was doing there.
We got let in and the girl checking tickets had a dark mark tattoo on her arm which was awesome! The venue was so different to other places I’ve been to; they had a small stage at the front. One side of the room had a bar and the other had seats. We sat down and after a little while the first band came on.
Almaria
This was the band that had the man’s son in it.
I thought they were okay but you couldn’t really hear the singer because the instruments were too loud. I liked the lead singer’s talking voice, he looked really young but had a tattoo so he would be around our age, the whole band were around our age. They played a few of their songs then did a cover of your love is my drug (yeah the Kesha song).

Next up was
Darcee Fox
I didn’t really get into their music, wasn’t really what I like listening to. The lead singer was cute though and he was wearing really tight jeans which were really distracting. I couldn’t stop looking at them.

There was a drunk man who started talking to the lead singer and was going on about managing and stuff.
Oh yeah the place didn’t really have a lot of people. I thought there would have been more to see The Classic Crime but it was a very small crowd. They were also very different to what how people are at the concerts I have been to in the past. They were older and there were actually more guys than girls. We realised how out of place we looked until I saw these two Asian people, the girl looked like one of those TB girls and the guy looked like he was forced to come along. They both looked a little fob but I don’t think they were.
Chemical Transport
Was the next band, they were from Sydney. Jenny and I went and stood up to watch them, I liked this band more than the other two. The lead singer sounded really Australian and he would keep dancing which was funny.
The drunk guy came back and started dancing on the floor by himself and I could see the lead singer was trying really hard not to laugh at him. He then started going on about the whole managing thing and told them they need a better manager.

While all the bands were playing the members of The Classic Crime were walking around all normal which was really cool, I kept thinking about what it would be like if one of the bands I loved played in a venue this intimate and were walking around. I would probably die.
Finally time for
The Classic Crime
The stage looked crowded because it was so small but the band was amazing.
People actually came and stood on the floor now, J and I tried but it was just too loud for us so we stood at the top while Susan and Julia stayed sitting down. I didn’t know all the words to the songs but I did know all the choruses so that was okay. Matt (lead singer) started telling us a story which was funny. They played The Coldest Heart which is my favourite song by them. I was standing there then noticed someone touch Jenny’s hair, it was the drunk man. He then asked Jenny to dance with him without actually saying any words and J looked freaked out. I was half weirded out half laughing, he decided to leave. The Classic Crime then got off stage so people started chanting one more song. They came back and said this would be their last song, they played The Fight. Then it was over.

J and I were standing on the side when we saw one of the band guys come out and he was shaking hands with the people next to us so Jenny went to shake his hand but he hugged her instead then hugged me. We were kind of lost for words after and didn’t know what to say. Major fail. There were three posters of TCC around the room and we managed to take all of them so we lined up to get them signed, Jenny went first then Susan then Me. We got Robbie to sign first (he was the guy who hugged us) Then went to Justin who I think looks like Lance from Nsync.
“Where did you get these from?”
“We stole them from around the room” (look I talked)
Then he said something about how we were thieves but then laughed and said it didn’t matter because they didn’t belong to the band
We went around to the drummer, see we didn’t know who was who in the band because we searched up their names on google just before they played.
“Hey I’m Skip”
J: “Are you Paul?”
Skip: Yeah how did you know?
J: We stalked you
(me thinking oh my god Jenny why would you tell him that)
He didn’t hear though
Skip: I thought you could read it from my signature and I was like wow how did you read that
We then got it signed by Matt
We stuck around a bit waiting for a photo
The four of us got a photo with Robbie and Skip but the flash wasn’t on so it didn’t turn out the greatest

(Don’t you think Robbie looks like Ian from Hot Chelle Rae?)
We stuck around a bit more to see if we could get another photo
The other guitarist (Alan) came out so got the poster signed by him
We saw this guy talking to Skip then Skip went away and came back with two drumsticks and gave it to the guy, I wonder what he said.
Saw this other guy get a photo with the whole band so we waited and stood to get a photo with the whole band
One of the guys: Girls stand in front of us, you’re all so short
Photo was taken we said bye they thanked us for coming, checked the photo later and realised that Robbie wasn’t in it so we didn’t get the whole band, damn.

We went to Hungry Jacks and Julia and Susan left after they ordered food. While I was waiting to get sauce this guy came up to us, he was drunk, and asked us what we were waiting in line for then asked me what I was holding in my hand. I told him it was a poster so he asked of what, told him of a band and that we had just been to a concert. He asked us which band and we told him and he looked confused so I said they’re not a very big band.
He took the poster out of my hand, opened it up and was looking at it
Guy: Oh nice you got it signed and everything
M: Yepp...
G: Oh you like how they, I bet you like this one don’t you?
(points to Robbie)
M: Umm no...
He started laughing and said something then rolled the poster up
He finally left us alone and we left.
At J’s house we looked through all the photos and watched a few youtube videos then slept at around 4. Woke up around 7 because J was meeting up with her Monash friends so I was a little dead. When I was on the bus home this old lady was sitting in front of me and her phone rang. Her ringtone was Sexy Back and I was laughing on the inside.
When I got home I went on the internet and saw that Mayday Parade were doing a live chat (I’ll post about this chat in another post because it was so epic). The rest of the day was basically just me cleaning and internet then I went to Dandy Plaza with the rents so I was pretty tired at night.
