Casual Affair

This was supposed to be a Holidays post about the mid year holidays but it has now turned into a summary of the second half of the year
I’ve probably forgotten things/things are out of order but here you go

-          We planned a surprise visit to Viv’s house on her birthday so we all met up at Susan’s and prepared food then went over to Viv’s. At midnight we called her and told her to come outside, we were worried about how it would turn out but I think it all went well. Her mum already knew about our plan so when we went into the kitchen, there were already plates and cutlery set out for us which was cute. We ate and talked till about 2 or 3 then left because Viv had to be up early to go hot air ballooning.

--

-          Jenny, Sharline and Nug came over to watch Bollywood Queen. This time I actually got to watch the whole movie and watching it with other people was fun because Sharline kept making these comments which would make us all laugh. That movie makes me way too happy.  We had kebab and fish and chips for dinner while watching under the dome which I hadn’t seen the first episode of but I kind of wanted to watch because of baby Sammy  aka Colin Ford.
--

-          Went to Jenny’s house. Jenny, Sharline, Susan, Thanh and I played Cluedo which I haven’t played since primary school. It was so fun! I miss playing board games. We also played band hero like usual which is always great.
--

-          Went to Priyanka’s place to make a rainbow cake which we FINALLY did after about two years of talking about it. We didn’t realise how big it would be once we put it all together so it ended up being really big but it looked to good!

-          Susan and Thanh came over to my place, and then Jenny, Nug and Jen came. We had dinner then Jen left and Yen came. Hadn’t seen yen in ages so it was good seeing her.  We watched random youtube videos and Nug said Thanh looks like Jane Lane from Daria, which I do agree with. Susan left after a little while. We said we were going to make a movie/drama but the lights were out and we were all lying down so I suggested we make a radio drama. I had no idea we would go on for so long, we made up this bizarre story which went on for nearly three hours. We all used different voices/accents and Nug used a Scottish accent which we hadn’t heard before but it was so great. We kept getting Nug to say more lines so we could hear the accent but oh man the story was just plain weird. Then again, what else would you expect from us?
Everyone left early the next day but Nug stayed and we watched Stoker which was ...interesting
--

-          Went to Fountain Gate with Aishu, Priya and Varsha to watch Monsters University. It was really cool because I watched Monsters Inc at the movies with Priya and Varsha, when it came out and now we watched this together. We went to Hog’s Breath after and our waiter would crouch down next to us whenever he talked which I thought was weird because its not like he was very tall.
--

-          I started listening to this podcast called Welcome To Night Vale because people on tumblr seemed to love it. At the start, I found it a little odd but it grew on me quickly and it remains odd but I really do love it.The days when I have a new episode to listen to while taking Scooby walking are so great.
--

-          Sharline came over and we had dinner and watched Crush, which I had been really excited to see for some reason. We both enjoyed the movie; it was one of those movies that are good to watch with other people.
--
-          It was the Comic Con weekend! I went on tumblr one morning and saw a photo of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender together and went crazy. I was actually on the floor making a strange sound and my mum walked in and asked me what happened. I said comic con, she didn't understand.
Oh boy, so many photos and interviews from all these movies and shows. It was so great but like every year, made me want to go to Comic Con. The highlights this year were the Days of Future Past panels and interviews and Tom Hiddleston dressing up and talking like Loki on stage.

--
-          Nug and I got tickets for the Project studio audience. See we initially thought Hugh Jackman was going to be on the show live, but then realised he wasn’t but I’ve always wanted to be in a studio audience so we went. When we got to the channel ten building, everyone waited in this room and this guy was telling us what he had to do and things and then he started throwing lollies at everyone. We then went up to go into the room, this guy then looked at Nug and I and went “let’s have the vertically challenged people in first”. We got seats in the front row so yay for being short. I was surprised by how tiny the place was. I was expecting more people to be in the audience too but there were only 26 of us. Hughesy was funny and kept talking to us during the ad breaks, overall I enjoyed myself and I want to go back when there’s a famous person on the show. After it ended, we went to Huxtaburger for dinner.

--
-          Nug came over; we made rumballs and watched old songs on You Tube like all these Michael Jackson songs and this video that had the biggest hits from 2005 which made me nostalgic. We watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine in preparation for The Wolverine. The next day we went to the city with Sharline, met up with Yen and watched The Wolverine. Had Grill’d for lunch and hung out there for a little while then looked for makeup for Yen because she had a ball on that night.
--
-          My Birthday.  Wore my Avengers skirt, got my free boost and muffin and watched Now You See Me. Went out for dinner with my parents. First year of my life where I didn’t cut a birthday cake which was kind of a weird feeling. I don’t know, I’m one of those people who LOVES their birthday, don’t really know why because I feel awkward when I get attention but yes. Overall it was an alright, not very eventful birthday.
--

-          This lady who works with my mum, her daughter was getting married so they asked us to make 750 chaklis to put in these gift bag things because Lankans do that? When we make chaklis, I have to make the shapes and because we’ve got an old machine thing, it fucking hurts your hands after a while so my hands were in so much pain by the end of it. Good thing though, I got almost all of the money we made from it.
--
-          Went to the wedding with my parents and we didn’t know anyone there apart from the bride’s family so we just sat on a table by ourselves. I saw Paula and Petra’s brother and my dad told me to talk to him so I said no because I don’t really know him, so what does my dad do? He calls him over and talks to him and says I asked about the twins so I was forced to talk to him and this may not seem that bad to most people but I start panicking in these situations and just feel really uncomfortable. So then after he’s gone, my dad just laughs and says that’s just how I am. So not cool.
--

-          I saw a post on tumblr about this anime called Free! Which everyone called the swimming anime and I don’t really know why but I thought I would give it a go and oh man am I happy I did. The first episode was weird and amusing because I hadn’t seen animes since I was a kid but then I got hooked and started getting attached to the characters and oh gosh it’s funny and gives you unexpected feelings,it's so great.

--

-          Went to the city for our group onesie sleepover. I went into the apartment building and I didn’t realise I had to be let in so I got on the elevator with someone but once they got off, I was stuck there and none of the buttons worked for me so I was stuck there until someone on the bottom floor pressed the button. After a while, I finally managed to get onto the floor and got into my onesie. It was really good seeing everyone, it had been a while since so many of us were together. We ate and talked and heard about Ayanthi’s adventures in Europe which were interesting.

I got drunk for the first time which I was not planning on doing but it happened. It was alright ish at night, I threw up once but I felt okay after. Most people went to sleep but a few of us were still up so I talked too much about how aroused Michael Fassbender makes me.  The next morning was horrible, more vomiting so Ayanthi drove me. We got to her house and I threw up on her front lawn, how fucking embarrassing. Piyumi took me to maccas but I couldn’t eat, got home and slept for a few hours which made me feel a lot better because I felt terrible before. I am never doing that again my god.
--

-          Went to the city for Jenny’s birthday dinner. Met up with everyone at Flinders and I got my birthday present from Jenny which was the Save Rock and Roll album and a birthday card signed by Bill Beckett and The Maine guys!
Went to the little Italian place on Manchester Lane and I got the risotto which was good but very filling. We stayed there for a while and had cake then said good bye to Nayomi as she was leaving for America in a couple of days.
--

-          We had this really busy weekend where we had four catering orders, two on Saturday, two on Sunday. Then with one of the Sunday orders, we had to go serve food there, plus my dad had to take photos so I went with my dad and family friend uncle. My dad told me to take photos while he set up but then I ended up taking photos the entire time while my dad stood around talking to people he knew. I don’t know how that happened? I was worried I would be really bad because these people were paying for these photos and I didn’t want to screw up but they were alright. I only knew a couple of people there but everyone was really nice to me and kept asking if I had eaten and things. This lady said I looked tired so made coffee for me (I don’t drink it so I gave it to my dad), she was asking me things and asked if I photography was my full time job (HA wouldn’t that be cool?).
--

-          I got a letter in the post from Jenny and I didn’t know what it was. There was a letter and these photos but I couldn’t see the photos yet so I thought they were the ones from the concert, but then I opened them and !!!

It made me SO HAPPY. Can’t believe you did that Jenny
--
-          Went to Jenny’s house. I got on the bus with Sharline and Nug at Essendon station and it was funny because I had actually left the house about half an hour later than them but managed to catch up. Thanh came over after a little while and we watched Jenny make cinnamon scrolls. We had cous cous, veggies and homemade bagels (I know!) for lunch then had the cinnamon scrolls and macarons for dessert. We talked for a while then played band hero like usual which was really fun. Our band was an all girls band but we were called Lonely Old Men.
--
-          Went out for dinner for my dad’s birthday and my baby cousin was sitting across from me so I started taking photos of him and he kept smiling and laughing after I would take the photo. He’s so cute!
--

-          Walked over to Sharline’s house then we walked to mine. Made a cookie/oreo thing then watched the last two episodes of Supernatural season 4 so now Sharline is finally (after almost four years) on season 5.
--

-          Had a tea party at my place. Jenny, Sharline, Nug and Susan came over first so we made pastries. When we sat down to eat, Tik came and we skyped with Nayomi for a bit, she was on a bus going to San Diego. We ate then Piyumi and Ayanthi came so we went to the park but then Ayanthi had to leave. We walked around then went back home and Viv came so then Susan cut her birthday cake which Jenny made.  The base of our cookie/oreo thing wasn’t cooked which was a shame but because it was just cookie dough we could still eat it. Piyumi and Tik left after a bit and the rest of us watched random youtube videos and tried to get Nug to talk in her Scottish accent. Went to Parkmore to get frozen yoghurt and Thanh met us there. Went back to my place and played Cranium, which I hadn’t played before but it was really fun.
--

-          Went to Southland with Priyanka and Diem. It was Halloween and there were all these kids dressed up who were trick or treating in the shops (they were giving out lollies), it was kind of weird.  Parents anniversary that night so we went out for dinner and missed all the kids.
--

-          Sneha’s birthday party. I was messaging Priyanka while on the train and it turned out that we were both on the same train which was funny, she was going into the city. I got off at Carnegie and Viv drove us to South Melbourne for the party. Piyumi made these tiny cupcakes which everyone fell in love with.
--

-          Met up with Jenny, Sharline and Nug at Southland to watch Thor 2. We then bought a heap of junk food and had a ‘honey boo boo’ season 2 marathon at my house which was brilliant.
--

-          Went to Chadstone with Sharline, Susan and Nug to watch Catching Fire. Had dinner at Pancake Parlour.

--
-          I’m drawing a bit of a blank as to what else I did, I think it involved a lot of doing nothing and catering.

-          I FINALLY got my driving licence!
--
-          My relatives sold their house and moved into ours because they were moving back to India. See I say relatives because there’s my uncle who is my ma’s younger brother, his wife is my dad’s older sister’s daughter, aka my cousin, so I am related to both of them but they are not related to each other, but it sounds super weird when I go ‘yes that’s my uncle and my cousin, they are married to each other’. Their kid is my cousin and also my nephew. Families are weird. That baby cousin is the baby cousin I have at times talked about. The really cute one.
--

-          Had dinner in Glen Waverly with Aishu, Priya and Varsha. We took forever to pick a place then finally went with Papa Rich which is a Malaysian place. After dinner we spontaneously decided to go to the beach so we went to Edithvale beach. We didn’t have anything to sit on so we used the car sun shields. It was so nice there, I love beaches at night. If things weren’t nice enough, we saw fireworks from where we were sitting.

--
-          Went to the city with Thanh and we basically just walked around into random shops and talked. Went to Rooftop bar for lunch, I had been meaning to try the burger there ever since Jenny and I went there to catch a glimpse of some band guys. I really like being up there, it’s nice.
--

-          The Doctor Who 50th anniversary happened and it was so cool having it shown on the news and everything. I loved the anniversary episode and it was so great seeing David Tennant as the Doctor again.
--
I saw this gifset of Remus Lupin and Sirius Black on tumblr and it awakened all my remus/sirius shipper feelings. They were actually one of my first gay ships, back when I didn't know what shipping was. But back then I had no outlet for these feelings because I didn't read fanfic or anything. Now that I do read them, I've gone crazy with all the remus/sirius and marauders fics. It's so great because there are so many really well written ones out there, but so many of them cause me pain because I have so many feelings over those characters so there has been a lot of crying.

--
-

-          Went cherry picking with Viv, Susan, Sharline and Nug. It was my first time and I thought it was really fun. After cherry picking we went to a local bakery for lunch, then went to Cape Schank. We stayed at a rocky beach there and threw stones while Viv and Susan explored a cave which really wasn’t much of a cave.

Went back to Sharline’s house, Viv had to leave and the rest of us watched random youtube videos and this Korean talk show kind of program.
--
-          I got a job! It’s at my ma’s work, in the microbiology lab, the microbiologist lady (remember that wedding I went to, it was her daughter’s) had been telling me that I could come in one day for a work experience sort of thing so I could see what they do, so I thought that’s what I was going in for but it turns out they’re busy at the moment and needed an extra person in the lab so I have a casual position there. It’s pretty cool because it’s relevant to what I want to do in the future and I feel really lucky to have this opportunity to work there.
--
My relatives left for India and it was a little weird not having them around in the house for a couple of days. I'm going to miss my little cousin.

--

The Doctor Who Christmas episode aired which was Matt Smith’s last episode. The episode itself, I didn’t like very much. I feel like the plots of the latest episodes have been too complicated and at times it’s hard to understand what’s going on. They seem too all over the place and don’t have that same charm that the older episodes had. This episode did have some good moments though and the ending speech that he gives was so perfect. I couldn’t stop crying for a long time. I’m going to miss Matt Smith as the Doctor so much. I just really wish he didn't have to deal with such bad writing.

--
I walked over to Sharline's house and saw this

We walked back to my house and looked at random things on the internet. Went to Parkmore and got pizza, then put on Don Jon. About ten or so minutes into the movie, my mum opened the door to the theatre room, and of course it had to be a really dirty scene full of topless women and people having sex. I bolted to the door to try and distract her but she saw the screen and it was bloody awkward. She asked me what I was watching so I said a movie and then she left and we switched the movie to The Butler. Warning for you all, DO NOT watch this movie if there is a chance of parents walking into the room.

--
That seems to be most of it, I'm looking forward to New Year's Eve tomorrow. Getting to see people after ages will be good. Also bring on the new year!

Young Volcanoes

On the 26th of October was the Fall Out Boy show. I had to do some stuff around the house in the morning so I couldn’t get to the venue until around 5:30. It’s funny how you can tell who else is going to the show by the way they dress. I stood in line for a while and then it started to rain which sucked because there was no shelter where I was standing. After almost an hour in line, people from the venue told us what door we were supposed to be standing at, mine was at the back of the building so I was in the wrong line which was really annoying because I could have possibly been closer to the front if I had known from the start. After more waiting in line we were let in, I was maybe four or five rows from the front, we all had to sit on the floor while we waited, they wouldn’t let anyone stand and the band wouldn’t go on for an hour so it got really uncomfortable because we were all squashed together on the floor and I get pins and needles really easily so yes not comfortable.
We then got to stand so everyone got up and ran, this one guy fell which was scary but he got up quickly and ended up next to me. British India were running late so we all stood around for a while and talked. I felt a little weird going alone but the people next to me were all pretty cool and they were nice, there were people around my age and then there were other ones who were really young, there was a 15 year old girl who was actually tiny, she probably reached my shoulders. I was now in the fourth row from the front (I think) and I had a pretty good view of the singer’s microphone and the bassist microphone which I thought was a good position for when fob would come out because that’s where Patrick and Pete would be.

British India came on and I had listened to their music years ago so I didn’t know any of the words but I liked them. Their set felt really short though, after three songs they said they were going to play their last song so everyone was like what already? But then they had time for one more song.
When they finished, everyone’s positions had somehow changed and we had moved over to the left.

The guy who fell over who was initially next to me ended up behind me (but it was okay because he was really tall) and people had switched positions and things so we were all confused to how that happened. The tall guy kept calling me little miss and he accidentally hit me on the head twice when he was moving his arms around but he was nice too like the other people. One of the guys who was 16 told us he went to the airport to see fob and that security were really rude so they only got to take one group photo with everyone else who was waiting and they couldn’t get anything signed. That kid was talking about how excited he was and said he would cry if Pete came out wearing eyeliner so me and this other guy started laughing. This girl who was at Mayday Parade was there and she was wearing a onesie (I think because Pete told people to dress up because it was so close to Halloween). The tiny girl next to me was complaining about it because of the body heat radiating from the onesie girl and I thought nothing of it until she was close to me and my god it was so bad. I can only imagine how hot she would have been feeling. We kept getting pushed to the left then it was finally time for FOB.

They came out playing ‘The Phoenix’ and were all wearing masks covering their faces. Pete was waving a big flag with their sign on it and everyone went nuts.

I think this was the first time I properly ‘moshed’, you know the whole actually jumping up and down instead of bopping.  They took off their masks and played ‘I Slept With Someone...’ which is one of my favourite songs, so that was awesome. It was pretty intense in there, I mean being pushed around, almost falling over, difficulty breathing and the heat, but it was also crazy in a good way. However after a few songs, I couldn’t manage being there any longer so I moved to the back which was a bit of a bummer because I was pretty close to the front before, but I still had a semi decent view from where I was. The crowd was so much more mellow at the back, which sucked at times because some people would just stand there.

The guys played more songs and generally didn’t talk much at all. Pete talked about being jetlagged then said something about being stumped, then went ‘I’m not stump, he is (pointing at Patrick)’, to which Patrick fricking started giggling to and it was adorable my god. Patrick would laugh at all the joked Pete made and I died from the cute.
When they played ‘Young Volcanoes’, these huge black balloon/balls with the FOB logo came out from somewhere and people were hitting them around and it looked really cool. I took a video but the quality is pretty terrible so I'll spare the upload.

Oh man, they played ‘Death Valley’ which is one of my favourites off the new album. It’s such a fun song and I always ‘dance’ to it. So happy they played it live, it was so great, everyone was getting really into it and Patrick singing the woooOOOOooooOOOooOOoo (I tried) bit sounded so hot. I love how everyone has their own terrible way of dancing to these songs, this one guy dancing to ‘Thnks Fr Th Mmrs’ was so entertaining.

The lights went out for a bit which I found weird because their encore wasn’t supposed to be on until later. Next thing I know, Patrick, Pete and Joe are at the back of the venue on this platform, and so I was pretty close to them at this point, which was really exciting. Pete talked for a bit then they played an acoustic version of ‘I’m Like A Lawyer’, my god it was so beautiful. This is another one of my favourites and I could gush about how beautiful it sounded but I won't.

They continued with an acoustic version of ‘Grand Theft Autumn’ then headed back to the main stage where they played ‘Dance Dance’ which got more crazy dancing from everyone.

More songs were played, followed by an encore of three songs, ending the night with ‘Saturday’, perfect ending to an amazing Saturday night.

I say it again and again but I can’t express how much music means to me and FOB is another one of those bands that has helped me get through some really tough times and continues to do so, so getting to see them once again, I just feel incredibly lucky. The happiness I feel at concerts is so overwhelming and it really is one of the best feelings.

Moving on, once the show ended, I went over to merch. Stupid of me to go so late because the t-shirt I wanted was sold out and can’t find it online so that sucks. I really liked the jumper they had but it was $90 and I didn’t have that much on me. I didn’t really like the tour t-shirt so I didn’t end up getting anything this time.

After that I made my way back to station and discreetly tried to take a selfie to show you all what happened to my hair

Just You Wait

I was supposed to post this earlier but here

I missed The Maine’s in store signing because I had to stay home and help out with things. HOW FRUSTRATING!
I ended up getting to the venue around 5:30 and found Jenny about 4 or 5 groups from the front of the line. She went off to get food so I waited. While waiting I saw Masketta Fall arrive at the venue and they were all hanging outside talking to their fans. Sean from This Century walked past but it was too quick and no one stopped him so he went into the venue. Ruyi or Alex I should say but I’m so used to calling her Ruyi so I forget arrived at the venue around 6 with her friend Pearl. I recognised the girl standing in front of us as the girl from the arttm/tss/trs/tds show (we talked in line while waiting for the show). Jenny came back and I saw Bill Beckett so I started dying internally, a group of people went up to him to take photos and Jenny kept pushing me to go up to him until I finally stood near him but he told people around him that he had to go inside so he left and there was my missed opportunity. Julia then got there and then Jenny and I started talking to the girl in front of us. I then saw all the Maine guys walk out and Alex was telling me to go up to them so I went I will and next thing I know, she pushed me and I tripped over Julia’s bag but luckily did not fall. She then yelled at me to go talk to them so Jenny and I started following them. It got to the point where it would have been weird to stop them so we followed them into Nandos and ordered the cheapest thing off the menu even though we weren’t hungry.

They were all sitting on a table with their tech people and Sean and FANS. There were 5 of them and I have no idea how those fans got to sit at a table with them but I was crazy jealous. Pat actually retweeted a photo of them all together so I went on the girls twitter and she sounded like a fangirl so I really don’t understand how it happened. Jenny and I sat on a table on the same side and ate our chips while casually glancing at them from time to time.  It was nearing 7:30 so we left and stood back in line, now more people joined our group, there was Stephanie, Maria and Jean (I think that was all), then Susan came and she was only going to come in for Anberlin so she stood in line until we went inside. It was cool because it was like a reunion from the Anberlin show two years ago.
Jenny and I got barrier on the right hand side, and then Stephanie and Jean joined us. The others were all behind.

Masketta Fall were up first and I hadn’t seen them perform before but I liked them. They played a few songs and did a cover of Teenage Dirtbag. I liked their song Parachute, it was really catchy. The lead singer said they had one last song to play but then realised their time was up so they left.
BILL BECKETT WAS UP NEXT. He started setting up his stuff which was just two guitars and his laptop and I started taking photos but got told off by security which was annoying because everyone else was doing it too. I swear I always get told off.
The one photo I took

He started with Hanging on a Honeymoon (I think), then talked about how all these bands have cool intros and that he wanted an intro so could we all pretend that he hasn’t come on stage yet. The stage went dark and the final countdown started playing while he walked on and everyone started cheering. He played a couple more songs and would talk in between the songs and he’s just so great with the crowd. The way he interacts with everyone and how he jokes about things, if you didn’t like him before that night, I’m pretty sure you would have fallen for him after seeing him on stage. He’s such a lovely person; I could gush about him for ages. He sang the line “there was a barber and his wife” from Sweeney Todd which made me laugh and he talked about getting a song stuck in your head and how he had one currently stuck in his head, for the love of me I can’t remember the song but everyone sang the chorus to it and he talked about how no one knows the words to the verse. Before playing the next song, he said that he wrote it about his sister Courtney and he talked about how she used to get bullied a lot in school and the song is about how even if things seem terrible right now, it’ll eventually get better (I’m paraphrasing here but that was the general idea). It was my first time hearing the song because it’s a B-side on the new album and god I can’t explain how wonderful it was. Everyone was quiet while he played and it was just him and it was beautiful. Now I’ve been to a few shows right and I’ve seen a few bands but this was the first time I ever cried while watching someone perform. I don’t know what it was but I couldn’t hold it in. I guess it was a mix of what the song was about, everything I’ve been going through lately and getting to see Bill Beckett perform again.

Between the end of year 12 and the start of first year uni, I went through a really rough patch and it was the first time things had gotten so bad. One of the biggest thing that helped me get through this was TAI. Their music and even their stupid (but awesome) tai tv episodes helped me more than I can say and I just can’t be thankful enough. I know I’ve probably said this a hundred times but TAI and their music mean so much to me and I just have so many feelings and emotions about them that I can’t express properly because I’m terrible with words.

Back to the show, so yes seeing Bill signing brought out everything including the tears. Bill finished his set with Benny & Joon which got the crowd going again and then it was over. Even though all the songs he played were from his new album (I was really hoping he would play Scarlett because he played it in the other cities) I just feel so incredibly lucky to have seen him perform again. I can’t believe the last time I saw him was four years ago. He was always my favourite performer to see on stage because when he was with TAI, he wouldn’t play any instruments on stage so he would move around a lot and use the mic stand and I just loved the way he moved. Now even though it was just him on stage with a guitar, he’s still got one of the greatest stage presences I’ve seen.

The Maine were up next and it was so good seeing them play again. I always seem to have Kennedy in front of me no matter what side I stand on but I’m not complaining. He’s so adorable to watch because he’s smiling the entire time. Garrett was wearing a polka dot shirt which was cute. John had a grungy look going on and it was really cool getting to see Sean on stage for the first time. They played a good mix of songs from all their albums and it was great getting to hear the new songs. They played Kennedy Curse which is such a downer of a song (still a great song) but it’s got great instrumentals in it so it sounded great live. Happy and Love and Drugs sounded really good too but John’s vocals weren’t that loud at times because the instruments would be louder. He didn’t talk much because he said something about talking too much the night before and getting told off but he kept asking if everyone was okay and if we needed anything. He was talking to this guy from stage and asked him if the girl next to him was his girlfriend (she was) so he went “Nice”. He did this to a few other people then went “I wish I had a girlfriend or boyfriend”. Garrett made strange sounds into the microphone at one point, I can’t remember if they talked about anything else. They finished off with Like We Did then it was time for Anberlin.

At this point people moved in closer but it was still really comfortable compared to other shows, there was hardly any pushing which was wonderful.
Anberlin started with The Resistance and had a pretty great setlist. They played some of my favourites like Never Take Friendship Personal and hearing the new songs was great too. Although the album has been out for over a year now, I only recently started listening to it because I’m terrible with listening to new stuff and it’s such a great album. I was so happy they played Little Tyrants which is probably my favourite off the latest album. Anberlin as such an amazing live band, they get the crowd all pumped up and they sound so great live. Christian was directly in front of us and he did the intense looks which I remember from last time where he’ll just look into your eyes while you sing and it’s so great. I love seeing their faces when they get to crowd to sign because they just look so happy. Stephen didn’t do a lot of talking but he talked about how they’ve been here so many times and he remembers their first tour and playing in a backwards city, they went on to play Adelaide. I love how Stephen makes fun of Adelaide all the time.

They went off stage then Stephen came back alone and sat at the keyboard. He played an acoustic version of Dismantle Repair and oh my god I can’t explain how beautiful it was. He was mesmerising, the crowd were completely into it and it was just such a beautiful moment. As I didn’t take any photos or videos at the show, I felt like I took in a lot more. The rest of the band then came out and they played Fin to end the night. I love that song so much and it’s always such a great song to end the set with.

We walked towards the merch table and saw Susan who then left. We then saw Garrett so we went over to him and said hi. I told him they were awesome and he thanked us. He recognised Jenny from the signing earlier because of her cat jumper and he started calling her cat lady which was funny. He said he would remember her now because of the jumper. He looked at me and said “you weren’t at the signing were you?” “No, I couldn’t come” “Yeah I would have recognised you”. That’s nice to think, he recognised me last time which was cool. Jenny told him she was also at the Gold Coast and Brisbane shows but he couldn’t remember so he apologised for that. I told him I liked his shirt that he wore on stage and he went “really?”. He told us he took it off because it was all sweaty. We got photos with him then left to talk to Pat.

When we got to Pat, security started kicking us out so we followed Pat out. While walking behind him, I pretended to stroke his hair and jacket which we found really funny for some reason (and we wonder why we don’t get invited to dinner with them). We were near the entrance so we talked to Pat and we got photos then got kicked out of the building.

We walked up to Jared but then security made us move completely away from the building. Jenny asked Jared if they had any plans for the next day because they had a day off so he asked if we had any suggestions and we had a total mind blank and couldn’t think of anything.  We talked to him for a bit and got photos

Went up to John and asked if he could write ‘’we all have been degraded, we all will be the greatest” and he said yes. While he was writing
Jenny: “woah your writing is so small”
Me: “yeah but it’s nice/pretty” (I don’t remember which I said
“...I’m sorry, that was really weird of us”
Because we were both basically on our toes looking at him writing
He did this smirk/smile/laugh which was unbelievably attractive.

It was my first time being so close to him while he wasn’t wearing his sunglasses and oh lord his eyes are so nice and his whole face is so nice and he’s so tall. Also he was wearing different clothes to what he wore on stage so he looked really nice.
I thanked him for signing my birthday card (Jenny got me a card signed by all the guys and bill beckett) so he said happy birthday to me (even though my birthday was almost a month ago, it was still awesome). I can’t remember what else we said; I may have been too distracted by the way he looked. When I went to take a photo with him and I put my arm around him and just, that's all? Where's the rest of his body? He's so skinny!

We went over to Kennedy and I stole Jenny’s question of what their plans were the next day (again I’m sorry Jenny), he said sleeping in and he talked about how little sleep they’ve had on the tour because the shows all end late and they’ve had shows on every night. I don’t remember what else was said. Again, may have been distracted by his face.

We stood around for a bit then Jenny said to try and see if Garrett would recognise her without the cat jumper, so she took it off. He was about to leave but then Jenny went up to him and said awesome show; he looked confused and said thanks. She asked if he recognised her and he said yeah cat lady. Jenny said we were trying a social experiment. He told her she should have come back with a wig and different clothes. Jenny then said you looked like you were about to leave so we’ll let you go and he moon walked away from us.

The rest of the time we stood around and I half listened to other people’s conversations. After a while all the guys left. We waited around for a while, there were only a few people left at this point. After quite a bit of waiting Nate and Joey came out. Nate looked funny because he had his shoes on him and a bag full of groceries and coles milk. We got photos with them then they left.

Damn the photo came out blurry

We waited a while longer but then it was obvious everyone else had already left. I was majorly bummed I didn’t get to meet Bill but hey there’s always a next time right?

Overall it was an amazing show and I’m so happy I got to go. Getting to see two of my favourite bands and one of my favourite signers on the same night was incredible. I always forget how good it feels to go to concerts.

Now

Hmm how to begin? I apologise if this is a bit of a word vomit and if I repeat myself or if things don’t make sense.

So
I have depression. I have had it for a number of years and I never told anyone about it until I had a bit of a breakdown at uni a couple of months ago and started crying in front of someone. That was the first time I had ever said it out loud and that was when I decided I needed help.
Because of this I haven’t been doing that well at uni, that’s putting it mildly, I’ve actually majorly fucked up, like REALLY REALLY badly.

My parents thought I was going to graduate this year and I had been putting off telling them but then I couldn’t avoid it so I wrote them a letter explaining what I was going through and stuff and they didn’t take it well, again putting it mildly. Their main issue was that I had been keeping all the uni stuff from them and they sort of pushed aside how I was feeling but I don’t blame them, it’s understandable why they reacted that way.

Anyway, I have seen a psychologist/counsellor at uni and a doctor and have been getting help. I'm not sure if it's working because I'm terrible at dealing with this stuff and it's so hard for me to change but we'll see. Some of my friends already know about all this and have been my support and really, I can’t thank you all enough for putting up with my venting and just listening to me and giving me advice and just making me feel a little bit better.
I have currently taken some time off uni, I’m only doing one unit to sort of clear my head.  So this means that it’ll take me possibly another two years to finish uni? I’m not sure

My parents don’t know that I’ve been seeing the doctors and stuff and that I have now actually been diagnosed with depression and that it is a proper thing and not just me making an excuse and I want to tell them, I need to tell them but it’s hard. I will do it soon hopefully.

Umm yes so, I don’t really know what the point of this post is but I guess it’s just me telling you because I want you to know. Also it’s so much easier typing this out than having to tell someone face to face.

These Four Words

My parents are ridiculous.

The other day, my Forever Halloween album came and I wasn't home so my parents opened the package.
Can I just say how fucking frustrating this is. THEY ALWAYS DO IT! I should really tell them off about it. Anyway
They genuinely seemed concerned about me because of the album. I think they think the album is by a drugged up devil worshiping band.
This is because the album cover has John O'Callaghan in skeleton paint and there is a song on the album called Love and Drugs.
My dad was pointing at various songs like that one and F**cked Up Kids, Sad Songs and Kennedy Curse, questioning them while I was trying not to laugh about it.
"Why is there a curse?"
"Why are you listening to stuff like this?"
I had to tell them they were just names of songs and it doesn't mean anything. Also that i had seen the band three times.
"I didn't know what they were like when I let you go"
Oh if only you knew what they were actually like
I don't think they realise I have photos in my room of myself with them.

They told me to be "normal" which annoyed me. What does that even mean?

Wherever You Go

Firstly I have to talk about A Rocket To The Moon
I feel like every few months I end up talking about how sad it is that another band has broken up but this time I was caught completely by surprise. Usually when a band breaks up they haven't put out music in a while or they are signs and although it's sad, you sort of see it coming. That wasn't the case with ARTTM. They had recently put out an album and have a big US tour coming up so I just didn't expect it.
I guess I'm lucky I got to see them once but they were one of those bands where I kept thinking about their next show here and how next time I would get to meet them all and now there will be no next time. I'm really upset.
Their upcoming tour is one of my dream lineups and god I am so incredibly jealous of the people who have the chance to go to those shows. Like SO FUCKING JEALOUS

Yesterday I went on twitter and saw that there was a video chat going on with the singers of each band from the tour so I watched it. I was laughing the entire time and they were being so funny and cute and aaah they're so great. Also Justin looked super attractive.

"This is how I sit on chatroulette" - John

Towards the end, John and Joel's videos cut out so it was just Justin and Nick for a little while and they played their guitars and it was nice but then I started to get sad because that was potentially the last time I would get to see them play (apart from videos online but you know).
I'm going to miss ARTTM so so much. I wish I could have gotten the chance to see them one last time. It really does suck when bands break up.

I'll always have the memory of going to rooftop bar with Jenny and watching them from afar (in a totally not stalkery way)

Brendon Urie got married to Sarah Orzasdfggfdsa (that's not actually her name, I just never learnt it but now it's Urie so I'll remember that)

I wasn't as upset as I thought I would be.
Yes judge all you want but it's Brendon Urie
He's really strange now though
Have you seen his vine videos? Also that new haircut of his is terrible (it's not what he has in that picture, he looks really good there, he's shaved off the side of his head now)

Speaking of terrible hair, RK dyed his hair blonde and just no

Bryan Singer released the first photo of James McAvoy for Days of Future Past and I went a little crazy when I saw it. I mean look at it.

I was laughing and crying (not literally) over it for a while until I calmed down and looked at it again. Firstly how very 70s is that outfit, I mean that shirt my god. I don't understand what is going on with that facial hair and his hair. How does he go from hot professor to hot dirty hippy, I mean look at what he looks like in xmfc.

I understand it's the 70s but really? I hope he doesn't look like that during the entire movie, I mean if he's opened up the school in this, what kind of parents would be sending their kids to stay with a guy looking like that? We'll just have to see. Singer has continued the photos (patiently waiting for one of fassy now) there was one of Hank and Logan together

I'm confused about some things but mainly, why does Hank look human? Maybe he comes up with a serum that temporarily works? Either way I hope he stays in Beast form for most of the film. As much as I enjoy looking at Nicholas Hoult's face, I love Beast as a character and I want to see more development with him.

I'll stop talking about that now because once I start, I'll keep going

Star Trek Into Darkness came out and I recently found out that the character Benedict Cumberbatch played is called Khan Noonien Singh. Now I'm not very familiar with Star Trek apart from the first movie in the franchise but that name most definitely does not sound like a white person's name to me. Sure enough, after a quick google search, I found out that the character was Indian (which is pretty obvious with the whole singh being in the name), so why was a white person cast in the role of an Indian character? It's not the first time this has been done and most definitely not the last time because Hollywood whitewashes so many things and I guess I'm just sick of it and you may go 'oh my Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor' and I agree, I think he's great but the fact that an Indian actor wasn't even considered for the part makes me angry. Times when a white character has been cast with an actor of colour, people seem to explode and get upset over it but when the reverse is done, it seems to be okay because that actor is a good actor. It's just annoying is all but I don't see things changing soon and that's upsetting.

The Eurovision finals were last weekend. I love Eurovision! It was held in Sweden this year and had a solo host instead of the usual two so things were a lot less awkward. The host sang this song about Sweden and it was so great. Other highlights were Greece and the main one for me was Romania. If you haven't seen his performance, you HAVE to.

I started watching Hannibal. It was going to be one of the shows I was going to save for the holidays but I just couldn't wait.
It's AMAZING!
I love it so much and I think everyone should watch it. Everything from the way it's filmed (the show is so pretty!) to the stories to the acting and character and it may sound weird but the murders too. They're so interesting and each one has been done is such a unique and disturbing way. I really do hope they get renewed for a second season. I hate it when good shows get cut early.
Tumblr has been pretty crazy over it, especially over Mads Mikkelsen whose name I learnt is pronounced 'mass miggelsen'
I actually really like the fandom for this show because for a show that's so dark, the fandom is so crazy, it's just full of bad food jokes and jokes about the relationship between Hannibal and Will Graham who is played by Hugh Dancy (who I fancy very much now (I had to)). I love his character and how messed up he is and how he's getting messed up more and more and I love the stray dogs he adopts and his relationships with all the different characters and how cute he is in those glasses of his.
Sidetracked a bit but yes, do watch Hannibal, it's a really good show and I hope for many more seasons.

Oh also me being terrible, I ended up watching all five seasons of Parks and Recreation in a little over a week and I love it

Discovering new tv shows is the best and the worst

--

I watched the first episode of Avengers Assemble which is the show that replaced Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

The show is set to start in July but one episode was released and I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. I really miss EMH and I miss the Black Panther, the new show has the Falcon instead because he's going to be in the new Captain America movie and this show is based on the movie-verse. Why we needed a show based on the movies, I don't understand. That's what the movies are there for. EMH was perfectly fine and we got to see characters that haven't been in the movies and it had good ratings too, argh why does Marvel always screw up when it comes to their animated shows. I guess I can't judge more until I've seen more episodes of the show but it felt weird because I don't feel like the voice actors suit some of the characters, especially Iron Man, and I don't know, I just miss EMH.

30stm announced their Australian tour dates and the Melbourne one is August 10th. Tickets go on sale on Monday, I really hope I can go!

I've forgotten what else I was going to say so I will leave you with this photo of my baby cousin
