Best intentions

My day started off pretty crappy, I woke up late so I was rushing around trying to get ready, I was having a bad hair day (my fringe went all curly as soon as I left the house) and the trains were all screwed. I finally got to Essendon station where I got picked up by Jenny and her dad and we then got dropped off at Festival Hall. We made our way to the line then Melissa caught up with us. Once we got in we went straight to the line to buy signing tickets. It was really dark inside and the first band (We Are The Ocean) had already started playing so it was quite loud. Half way through the line we found out the Panic! At The Disco and All Time Low tickets were sold out so naturally I felt gutted. We stayed in line though, Melissa and I ended up buying a ticket to see We Are The In Crowd.

As soon as I went in I wasn’t very happy with the venue, it’s good for a concert but not for a music festival even though this one wasn’t very big. The stage was split in half so one band would perform on one side then the next on the other. We walked around a bit while Terrible Things were playing and once they finished we made our way into the crowd and watched The Swellers. The crowd started a circle pit but luckily we weren’t near it, we moved to the other side of the stage.

While The Swellers were on, We Are The In Crowd were setting up so I was watching them set up and at one point, Mike Ferri (bassist) waved at the crowd and it was so cute! We Are The In Crowd began to play and they were the first band so far who I was looking forward to seeing, they were pretty good but something seemed to be wrong with the microphones so at times I couldn’t really hear Tay (singer) and Jordon (also singer). There were a group of guys who were going crazy moshing in the pit and I thought it was funny for some reason.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Alesana were on next and they were a screamo band so it was my first time seeing screamo. Yeah I didn’t particularly enjoy it and the lead singer’s facial expressions were freaky at times. We left the crowd during their set, stood on the side and watched Go Radio set up (one of the guys was really attractive so I kept watching him). Melissa and I left to stand in line for the WATIC signing, I watched Go Radio perform from the line and got to see pretty much all of their set because the line wasn’t moving. I thought they were really impressive, I liked how the attractive guy moved around the stage and I loved their cover of Rolling In The Deep (wish I took some photos of them).

We finally got inside the small side room were the signings were taking place.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Melissa went in front of me and a lady asked for our tickets. I went to look for mine but couldn’t find it and I started to panic because I had it on me a second ago. A few people went past me as I frantically looked for my ticket but no luck. The lady then told me it was ok and she let me go, Rob Chianelli (drummer) was first so him and Mike signed my book then Tay did. She asked me how I was so I said good then told her their performance was great so she thanked me and thanked me for making the effort to come and see them (she’s so cute!). Cameron and Jordon had already signed my book so I asked for a photo but then the security lady came and “NO PHOTOS!” so I said bye and left.

Melissa and I couldn’t find Jenny so we stood at the back and watched Hellogoodbye. I really liked them, they sounded more rock live and they seemed all quirky and cute so they were really good.

After their set Melissa and I made our way to the front of the crowd and Jenny then joined us, we were planning on staying there to see if we could make it to the barrier by the time Yellowcard played but we were all hungry so we left. After a quick toilet break (yes you needed to know that) we went outside to line up for food. It was raining and it was cold so it wasn’t very pleasant but we were hungry so we stayed there. The rain probably wasn’t the best thing for my cold but what could I do. This girl standing in front of us in the line started talking to us and we found out she was 15 (she looked a lot older), she said we looked young. After a long wait we finally got to the front, got food then made our way inside again. The girl asked if she could hang around with us because she was alone so we said yes. We sat inside, ate and listened to Funeral For A Friend (another screamo band) (I was a little bummed out because I missed The Damned Things which has two members of Fall Out Boy in it. We thought the lead singer of Funeral For A Friend had a funny accent and that he sounded like Gerard Butler (Jenny, I looked them up and they’re from Wales). After FFAF we went back down into the crowd and watched Set Your Goals. We almost got caught in the circle pit which was fucking scary. During one of their songs, Alex from All Time Low came on stage and sang with them so that was really cool.

This Providence were on next and I was really looking forward to them. Dan Young (singer) started talking about how Melbourne was his first home and that he grew up here and went to high school until he moved to the states. Who even knew he was Australian? I had never heard him talk so I didn’t know, he’s still got the accent so that’s pretty cool. I like him more now because he’s from Melbourne, anyway their set was really good. I knew the songs even though I didn’t know all the words and they ended up playing a new song which was cool so yeah I really enjoyed them.

I don’t know why I like this photo so much

The one downside was, where I was standing, there was a girl next to me who was really aggressive and kept elbowing me and pushing me (I wanted to punch her, I was so annoyed). I would just push her back if she pushed me, oh my god she annoyed me so much!

Story Of The Year were next (another band who I wouldn’t normally listen to because they’re more hardcore than my music). I really liked one of the guitarists in the band because he looked all happy and he was moving around the stage a lot. Even though I was in the third row from the front I still had a really bad view because everyone was so goddamn tall! There were a couple of guys next to me who were like giants; I don’t know why they needed to be so close to the front.

Face To Face next, they were an old band and the singer said they had been together for 20 years so that was pretty cool. I couldn’t really see them but there was this man in the crowd who was moshing along and the singer was like it’s nice to see some old timers here.

Yellowcard were on next, another band I was looking forward to. One of the guys in the band plays violin so I thought it was funny seeing him being all hardcore on stage with a violin but the band are awesome.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

At this point I couldn’t really see anything so I wanted to get out of the crowd. Melissa, Jenny and I got out and went over to where the signings were because panic were signing at that time and we wanted to see if we could see them from the outside. I looked into the room but I could only see Dallon (touring bass) and Ian (touring lead guitar). At this point I got really upset because I wasn’t going to get to see them (no I didn’t cry ), I had a letter that I written to Brendon and Spencer and I wanted to give it to them so I went up to a girl and asked if she would give them the letter, she said she would so we left after that. We went down into the bar to see what it was like, it was just a room sort of thing where you could buy alcohol and get away from the music for a little while, nothing special so we went back upstairs. We watched Yellowcard from the side of the stage and I spotted Zack from All Time Low eating a massive piece of watermelon which was funny. We spotted other band guys on stage watching Yellowcard from the side. Tay and Mike from WATIC, All of All Time Low and a few other bands. Jenny then spotted the drummer from Go Radio who was standing next to us so we freaked out a little and we wanted to take a photo with him but we didn’t know how to ask so I pretended to take a photo of Jenny so I could get him in the background.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This girl then asked us why we didn’t just talk to him (clearly she doesn’t know us). I told Jenny I would ask him but then I made Melissa ask.

Melissa went up to him and asked for a photo but he misunderstood and took her camera and took a photo of us so we went “No! You have to be in the photo”.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So after that photo we saw Forrest (singer of Hellogoodbye) walk past so we followed him. He was talking to these girls, with another member of the band and they seemed to be really close (wish I could talk like that), Forrest even smelt one of the girl’s hair which was a little strange and the other guy kissed another girl on the cheek for a photo. Forrest started to leave so we ran after him and got a photo.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We then saw the other guy walk past us so more running and I tapped him on the shoulder and asked for a photo, Forrest got into this photo too.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After this we went and watched the rest of Yellowcard’s set. They finished with Ocean Avenue which got everyone crazy, there were all these people dancing along to the song.

We went back to the alcohol area to see if we could spot any band guys hanging around, we saw Forrest and the other Hellogoodbye guy talking to a few people so we went back up and looked for some, I just saw Zack who is Panic’s bodyguard/manager but I don’t like him very much. We left and watched The Young Guns.

All Time Low were on now so we got into the crowd and things got crazy pretty soon. We were in the middle of the crowd and my view wasn’t the best but it was okay, the 15 year old girl from before ended up being behind us (I forgot to mention we lost her before). They played a lot of songs from their new album which made me happy. They sang Time-Bomb and Guts which are my favourite songs from the album. Alex and Jack were talking about something and they started doing this little dance and it was so funny and cute, I wish I took a video of it. They were both really funny and kept making sexual jokes. Everyone sang along to the songs really loudly and at times I couldn’t hear Alex’s voice because the crowd were so loud but it was so awesome. I was surprised at how many guys were ATL fans, I never expected there to be so many. One bad thing, there were a group of guys standing behind me who were really annoying and kept bagging ATL, seriously if you don’t like the band then don’t watch them! It ruins it for everyone else. One of the guys had a whistle so he kept blowing it and that was really annoying. I was taking a video of one of their songs and one of the guys behind me told me I wasn’t allowed to.

“Excuse me but you can’t take a video of them”

“What?”

He then pulled out a tag that said security so I was like what the fuck

“I didn’t come here to watch them through your camera”

I was then getting really annoyed and he had interrupted my recording so I had stopped it, he then told me he was joking and told me to keep recording.

The whistle guy was getting really close to this girl and he was asking her to dance with him, she said no and turned around so he started dancing really closely behind her (really inappropriately too) and it was so gross ugh.

Back to ATL, they played Lost in Stereo which is my favourite and finished it with Dear Maria, Count Me In. Overall they were amazing, they announced that they would be coming back next year so looking forward to that.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I lost Jenny after ATL and was in the middle of the stage, 4 rows from the front. I couldn’t see a thing and thought it was pretty pointless if I stayed there so I left with Melissa and went into the middle of the crowd. We watched D.R.U.G.S (Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows) and saw that their audience were getting crazy. While drugs were playing, the stage was being set for Panic and I got really excited when I saw Tony Marino who is The Academy Is...’s tour manager. Finally time for Panic to play, everyone started moving closer so I was pushed along with the crowd and once again my view wasn’t very good.

They came out and started off with Ready To Go, I decided to move back even more to somehow get a better view of the stage. They played more songs and I sang as loud as I could. Brendon was wearing a shirt with suspenders (wish he had a bow tie on) but oh gosh I have never been more attracted to someone before, seriously the most attractive guy ever.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Brendon started talking and kept saying how great the crowd were and that we were the best ones on the tour so far (every band says that).

“I want to fuck everyone of you”

(*cheer*)

“Well no not everyone, I would have to check your ids first”

He told us a story about how there’s something up with his sweat glands so he sweats excessively and that when he was a kid at school he would be the only one sitting there sweating and everyone including his teacher would laugh at him and that played on his self esteem.

The crowd started chanting “Take it off”

“Is that all I am to you? I’m just a piece of meat (I don’t even know)”

The chanting continued and he started laughing and said he would take his suspenders off, the chanting kept going so he gave in and took his shirt off so everyone went crazy.

Oh my god he was so sexy! You don’t want to know what I was thinking then (is this getting too weird for you? I’ll stop)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He sreamo-ed some of the lyrics so the songs and it was a good kind of scream, I was amazed at his vocal range, he’s seriously improved so much throughout the years.

They sang a few of their old songs and when they performed Camisado I remembered them playing it the last time I saw them and I got a little emotional because of the whole Ryan and Jon leaving (Yes I’m still not completely over that and no I didn’t cry) but ah god it was so amazing, I love that song so much.

Brendon told us that his mum has had the same ringtone for the past 6 years and that it was I Write Sins Not Tragedies, so they sang that and that got everyone crazy.

They covered a The Darkness song (I believe in a thing called love) which sounded really good then they found out they had time to play an extra song so he got people to vote out of That Green Gentlemen and New Perspective (the later one won). He told us a story about how he got to write that song for the movie Jennifer’s Body and that all he knew about the movie at the time was about this one scene where the two main (female) characters make out so that’s pretty much all he had for the song then he told us it was a really sexual song and performed it and it was awesome.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

They finished their set with Nearly Witches and that was it. Overall absolutely amazing! They’re such a good live band and they make the whole show entertaining. Downsides were my horrible view of the stage but that couldn’t really be helped. I came to the conclusion that I hate tall people, people who hold up signs and people who get up on other people’s shoulders. I wish they played more songs from Pretty. Odd. (they only played one) and they didn’t play Build God Then We’ll Talk (a part of my life will be complete once I’ve heard that song being performed live). That’s about it really, it better not take them another 3 years to come back here, I want a headlining show!

The three of us then left the venue and parted with Melissa then stood outside to see if we could spot any band guys leaving. A van went past and jenny waved at it and someone waved back but we don’t know who it was, didn’t really get a good look. After a while we got picked up by Jenny’s dad then got Maccas for dinner then went to her house where we looked at the photos.

We had decided to go to the airport the next day to see if we could spot anyone, problem was, we had no idea what time they were going to be there.

I got woken up by Jenny around 9 something, she told me she had been checking twitter to see if any of the band guys said anything about going to the airport. She saw that the WATIC manager had his location turned on and it was at Melbourne Airport so we got dressed and got dropped off at the airport. It was now around 10:20 and there was no one there, we looked at the Virgin Blue check in and also Qantas and Jet Star but still no luck. While we walked around we saw a group of girls sitting down who also looked like they were waiting for a band.

We sat down for a while and looked out at every taxi or van that went past but still nothing, my hopes were being dashed now and I thought we had come on a failed mission. The next flight was at 2:10 and I didn’t know if I wanted to wait that long but we stayed there and kept watch. Some people got out of a taxi and they looked like they were in a band but we couldn’t recognise any of them. I had so many missed calls from my parents at this point and I was starting to worry because I couldn’t tell them that I was at the airport. Waiting there pretty much sucked, we had nothing to do so we just sat there. While waiting I saw this kid and thought he looked like Jack Vidgen (the kid who won Australia’s got talent), when we got closer I saw that it was him and it made me laugh, so weird seeing him there. Only I was amused though because Jenny had no idea who he was. On twitter some random girl had tweeted about there being girls at Adelaide airport at 10 waiting for Panic to arrive, she then said that they would have a 7 hour wait, we tried tweeting her for details but nothing. Around 12 we saw a tweet from the Go Radio drummer.

We thought that maybe they were going to come to the airport soon, so we waited around a bit then decided to check out Virgin Blue because there was a flight at 1 something. We went into the shops then went back up and went on the trading post and looked at puppies for a bit, still no luck. I was pretty upset at this point, so we walked back to the Qantas area. While walking back I looked over and freaked out because I saw Dan Young from This Providence with another TP band member. We followed them but they went inside a café place so we stood outside and went into the shop next to it to decide what we were going to do. Jenny started freaking out a bit too much so I had to calm her down, we wanted to take a photo with them but thought we would wait until they had made their orders. We stood in the shop behind a shelf of power plugs and pretended we were looking at the plugs, this went on for a little while and we would take quick glances to see what they were up to.

“Jenny wouldn’t it be funny if Dan just popped out from behind the shelf?”

“Hey are you two hiding here?”

(I was so embarrassed at this point)

We both laughed and I can’t really remember what we said to him, I didn’t know what to do so I told him their show was great last night and thanked him, he thanked us for coming.

“Will you come back soon for another show?”

“Yeah of course, I mean we can’t just come once then never come back, that would be rude”

“We didn’t know you were from Melbourne”

“Yeah (I don’t know what else he said)”

“Do you come back often?”

“Umm once every year or so. Sorry if I’m a little out of it, I’m a little hungover”

“Did you guys party last night?”

“Yeah”

Ok I can’t really remember what else was said but pretty much after every question/ answer there would be an awkward pause where Dan would go so... or yeah...

Dammit Dan

Jenny did most of the talking so I didn’t really help in making it less awkward

We asked for a photo and he said yes so Jenny asked a lady to take it and Dan went “We have to take it in front of your hiding place” (oh my god)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We got the photo then he left with the other band guy, Jenny and I stayed in the shop, laughed and I kept going on about how awkward and embarrassing that was.

We walked back to the Qantas place and fangirled a little, I was going to go up to the group of girls to ask them who they were waiting for. We almost got to the girls when I saw Spencer, Dallon and Ian and I started freaking out, I showed Jenny then the two of us went over to them. One of the girls from the group also came over, she gave them letters. While this was happened we saw that Ian was stuffing an orange peel into a water bottle so Jenny asked him what he was doing. He said he couldn’t find a bin anywhere then the other guys went yeah we can’t find one anywhere (there was one in the corner). Spencer then said something about how we should get into the industry of making bins. Jenny then got a card signed, I didn’t have a pen so I kind of just stood there staring at Spencer. The girl asked for a photo so I took one for her, we then asked for a photo. I was standing next to Ian and the photo was about to be taken when I heard Dallon (I think) say “Brendon get in!” I turned around and Brendon Urie was standing behind me and smiled and I completely flipped out. I turned around to face the camera and made this weird sound and face and I was trying to stay as calm as I could.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After the photo was taken everyone but Brendon left. I told him the show was great, he said thank you. I told him we couldn’t see him the night before because the signing tickets were sold out, then told him I gave this girl a letter to give to him and that I hope he got it. I don’t know what he said in response to that. I asked him for a photo then Jenny got one and he left after that to join the other guys.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

ascadvsfb he's so perfect! Our babies would be so beautiful

Oh my god he was so nice! They all were.

We stood there fangirled some more and watched them go through security. Brendon had to take off his jacket for some reason so we took creepy photos of them in line, then saw that Dan and the other guy were in line too.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We sat down once they left and decided to wait around for All Time Low. I was beyond happy at this point but then I got a phone call from my dad who yelled at me for not picking up the phone or calling them, so I got told off pretty badly and I was about to start crying (I know! I’m so weak when it comes to my parents). I wanted to go through security to see if we could see panic again but Jenny wanted to wait for ATL for a bit longer. After a while and no luck we decided to go through. It felt weird being there because we weren’t getting a plane anywhere. We knew that their plane was leaving from Gate 6 so we headed that way, while walking I spotted Zack from ATL walking with a few guys from other bands. A couple of girls stopped him for a photo so we ran up to get one too.

“I’m going to lose my friends”

We both said we were really sorry for keeping him, seriously though it’s not like he was going to do anything but sit down once he got to the gate so I got a little annoyed at him.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Damn girl for shaking when she took the photo

We kept walking and saw more band guys walking, when we got to Gate 6 I looked in and oh god there were so many of them just sitting there. Imagine getting on that plane; ah how brilliant would that be.

I saw Jack (ATL) walking towards gate 6 from the opposite direction but we couldn’t get there fast enough and he went and sat down with the others. The group of girls from upstairs were here too, we didn’t want to disturb them so we kind of just stood there; I kept looking into the room to see who was there. All the ATL guys were there, This Providence and a few other bands. Panic however weren’t, I then realised they were sitting at gate 7, I don’t know why. After a while of doing nothing, we saw a couple of girls walking towards the room so we followed them. They got a photo with Alex then left, we then went up to Alex and asked for a photo.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

“The signings were sold out so we couldn’t see you yesterday”

“You’re here now so that’s cool, are you catching a flight?”

“Uh no”

“You just live here then”

“Yeah”

“You live in the airport”

We thanked him then stood there. Jenny went to Jack and whispered his name.

“Yeah?” (he whispered back)

Ok he said something at this point and It sounded like “I’m pregnant” but why he would say that I have no idea so he most likely said something else

Jenny asked for a photo so I took one of her then got one and he like squeezed me so it felt really good (that sounds weird doesn’t it?)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We thanked him and Jenny said have a safe flight

Oh gosh they were both so nice and so tall! I had no idea Alex was so tall, I always thought he would be shorter. I wish we could have gotten a photo with Rian and the rest of This Providence but they were sitting on the other side and I didn’t want to go near Dan and have another awkward moment so we left.

We walked back up and we decided that I kind of failed at talking to them today so I have to learn how to talk to band guys (but I can’t even talk to normal people!). Anyone want to teach me? I have until March to learn. I also need to learn how to look into people’s eyes when I talk to them, god my social skills are so bad! Upstairs we saw a couple of other band guys, I wanted a photo with one of them because I liked him from the night before but I didn’t know what his name was and I didn’t want to bother him so we left.

After a bit of more fangirling we got picked up by Jenny’s dad and I then got dropped off at Essendon station where I took the train home.

I was dreading going home because of my parents but we had people over so they couldn’t yell at me (score!). Once they left though, my parents called me to the room and I got lectured a little but it wasn’t too bad. My dad tried making a joke at the end “We were panicking while you were watching Panic” I laughed because it was so bad.

All in all it was a bloody fantastic day, one of the best ones ever!

Although I didn't make the most of it, I can't believe I got to meet Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith. Two people I've adored for so long and are part of a band that mean so much to me.

Thank you Jenny for taking me to the airport!

P.S If anyone is good at editing photos do tell me, I want the airport photos to have blurred backgrounds so you can't tell it's an airport

Hurricane

When Anberlin were in Australia, Nate tweeted/ posted on tumblr about this cafe.

It’s called Captains of Industry and it’s a cafe/’Gentlemen’s Outfitters’

He said it was good so I wanted to check it out. It sounds like a small place and their menu mainly consists of sandwiches but it sounds cool so I really want to go. Anyone care to join?

I read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë and loved it! I really do need to read more classics.

I liked all the characters and the story and I recommend you read it if you haven’t.

I think I have a thing for male characters that start of being not very likeable but then you find out they’re actually lovely.

I watched the newest (2011) adaptation of the book.

My biggest problem with it is that they left out too many scenes which may confuse people who haven’t read the book and it was way too fast passed, but I guess that was necessary to fit it all into a two hour film.

The acting however was perfect in my opinion.

Mia Wasikowska made a wonderful Jane and Michael Fassbender a brilliant Mr. Rochester, even though he was too handsome to play the part.

In the books Rochester was described as being ugly, now look at this face

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I don’t know how anyone can find him ugly

One thing though, Rochester wasn’t as dislikeable in the film as he was at the start of the book, same goes for St James. I actually kind of liked St James in the movie, (not because he was played by Jamie Bell) in the book I didn’t like him at all.

Spoilerish detail here so skip if you haven’t read the book

In the movie they didn’t make St James, Jane’s cousin so it wasn’t as weird when he asked her to marry her, although I guess it wasn’t that weird to marry your cousin back then.

Overall the movie was decent.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

On Saturday I went to Southland with family friends and we originally wanted to watch Fright Night but the timings were bad so we went to watch Horrible Bosses. When we went to buy the tickets we found out the session was full so we got tickets for The Change Up.

I thought the movie was funny but they could have cut down on the naked people.

We had TGIF for dinner then went home.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Played with Scooby for a bit then went into the theatre room and watched Orphan.

After Orphan we wanted a happy movie so we watched Chalet Girl because Ed Westwick was in it.

We put on Sherlock Holmes after but most of the people had fallen asleep so turned it off and watched YouTube videos.

Went to sleep around 6 am and got woken up at 8:30 because I could hear my parents in the kitchen.

We just sat around for a while and watched tv then had lunch then everyone went home

My parents left the house to go to my cousins so I slept until 8 then watched Doctor Who

Sharline and I took the train to Footscray and bought donuts (because they’re supposedly the best donuts in Melbourne. They just tasted like normal jam donuts to me)

Got the tram to Highpoint and went to Play Time for Jenny’s birthday

I got really excited when I saw House of The Dead so I played it with Nug and it was awesome!

The best game there was this pirate game where you’re on a ship and you kill things and you sit on a seat and play so the whole thing moves and oh gosh it was amazing. I wish I used all my tokens on that one game.
After Play Time we went to Jenny’s house where we had lunch and played Band Hero

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I sang this hardcore German song which was funny
Didn’t end up leaving until 8 so my parents were annoyed.

First half of the day I did pretty much nothing, around 4 I left the house to go to the station.

When I got on the train I saw Viola which was really random so we talked until we got to Flinders
I took the tram to Brunswick and went to Bridie O’Reilly’s which is an Irish pub

It was good because almost everyone was there so it was great catching up with them.

That night was trivia night at the pub so we played, our team was called Dumbledore’s Army

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We came equal last so it was a bit of an improvement to last time.

Piyumi drove Viv, Ayanthi, Sharline and I home and I didn’t get home until after 11 so once again annoyed parents.

Rest of it has just been me sick at home
Counter Revolution is on tomorrow and I don’t feel ready
The excitement hasn’t hit me yet but it will tomorrow

We All Look Elsewhere

We The Kings/ You Me At Six

- We got to the venue around 12:30 and the line was already pretty long (damn eager U18s)

- After waiting for what felt like forever we finally got into the venue around 4, I can’t believe our dodgy ids worked

- We were one a platform sort of thing on the left side of the stage and were second row from the front

- The Mission In Motion were on first and I really liked them, I should check them out

- We The Kings on next and the pushing started. There was a girl next to me who was constantly pushing me and I don’t understand why because she was so much taller than me and would have had a pretty clear view (this is why you don’t go to U18 shows, the kids are really annoying)

- We The Kings played most of the songs they played last time but also played a few new ones from their new album

- I really liked ‘Every Single Dollar’ Travis told everyone to dance really badly during the song and it was fun

- Travis also said he was wearing his frisky pants (they’re frisky because there is a huge hole in them)

- During one of the songs, Travis was playing it acoustically alone and he paused for a moment and everyone was screaming and cheering and he just stood there and he looked so happy and oh my, it was so cute. I felt so happy for him and the other guys

- Overall they were really good but I preferred them the last time i saw them, also the set felt shorter for some reason

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

- You Me At Six were on next and they started off with an intro which led into The Consequence which is my favourite of theirs (I think)

- They were brilliant, the crowd were crazy throughout their whole set and it was so great

- I had a coughing fit during their set so that wasn’t good

- Josh is completely adorable, oh gosh, the way he moves around the stage and how he talks. I can’t believe he’s only a year older than me

- They announced that they’re coming back for soundwave next year so that’s really exciting

- We saw WTK leave during YMAS’s set so we knew they wouldn’t be around for signing

- After YMAS we hung around for a bit waiting for them to come out but they didn’t so we left and got our bags from state library then walked past the Hi Fi again but still nothing

-

- Once I got home I heard that they had apparently come out and done signings and photos later so I was annoyed at that but its okay because I’ll get to see them next year.

- Overall it was a good night but I was so tired after

Susan’s Birthday/Going Away Party

- Got to Susan’s house and helped decorate outside with streamers, which failed a little because the wind destroyed it

- Caught up with friends and ate lots of food

- Tried to use Susan’s skateboard but failed miserably

- Played Jenga for the first time and was happy I didn’t knock it over

- Had a jam session with the piano and guitar and my horrible vocals (as we usually do)

- Sharline and I were last to leave, we got on the bus at Cheltenham station and the driver took off leaving behind these people who were yelling to let them on (I don’t really know what happened)

- Took the bus until Parkmore then got Hungry Jacks and walked back to Sharline’s house where my parents came to pick me up as soon as we went inside (Timing could not have been more perfect)

- Overall a very fun day

Susan’s going away dinner

- I got into the city an hour later than everyone else so by the time I reached the Thai restaurant on Lygon, everyone had already eaten so I felt awkward

- Had Pad Thai for dinner which was pretty good then walked over to a Gelato place

- Had ice cream and sat around and talked

- Said good bye to Susan and the others and left to get the train

- Sneha drove Sharline and I home

- That was pretty much it but it was good, I really like going to the city for dinner, just wish I could afford to do it more often

Other

- I got a new puppy!

No it’s just Scooby with a haircut, can’t believe how different he looks. I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw him, it was so weird. This is what he used to look like

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

- Finally got my new camera and it’s blue

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

- I watched this Q&A Video of John Gomez and I’ve now got a little crush on him (again)

- If you like music and want to listen to good music download this http://tinyurl.com/TCpass

It’s free and it’s by a great band, make sure to tell everyone you know to download it too!

- I discovered that Steven McQueen is a black man, I always thought he was white

- Tonight I’ve got to go to a party that I don’t want to go to and I have to wear clothes that I don’t want to. Good times ahead

- That’s all for now

An Evening With Anberlin

I started writing this post last week but never finished it, it was going to be so much more detailed than this but I’m lazy.

I got through my anatomy lab as fast as I could so around 4 I left uni with the guy in my class who lives in Clayton. While we were in the car, there was an interview of Josh and Max from You Me At Six on the radio and it got me excited for the concert. I got dropped off at Huntingdale, got the train and went to Parliament. I made my way to the Palace Theatre and saw Susan, Ruyi (do I have to call her Alex?) and two of Ruyi’s friends. We sat in line for a bit and were later joined by Julia then Melissa then Jenny. We went to Nando’s to get chips then finally got inside the venue.

Got to the cloakroom and was one of the first people there so I was happy but the lady there told me I had to put my jumper in my bag, so I did, then she said my bag had to be completely zipped up so finally after sorting out my bag Jenny, Susan and I made our way towards the stage. We were on the right side, second row from the front, on the platform so the view was pretty good. Susan’s friend came and stood behind us with her friend so we talked to them for a little while and took ‘before’ shots.

Tonight Alive were on first. I had never heard their music before but they sounded decent, I couldn’t really understand the lyrics though. The lead singer was really cute (not in an I’m attracted to her way) she was all bubbly and seemed really happy. The guitarist closest to me looked like this guy from my uni.

After their set this guy in the front row moved so I ran forward to get a barrier spot. This photographer started taking photos of the crowd and he asked to take a photo of me and the girl next to me so she went ‘Sure we can be besties’ then put her arm around me then he took a photo.

The break went on for quite a while, it then got dark and this music started playing. It sounded like alien music so Jenny and I were saying we were going to get abducted by aliens.

Anberlin finally came out and the place erupted in cheers, they started with Dismantle Repair then played a few more songs. While playing Paperthin Hymn there was a guest singer called Mark Stewart. None of us knew who he was and we couldn’t really hear him singing. They played a few more songs then there was a break while they rearranged some equipment on stage. They did a Crowded House cover where Travis from We The Kings and the lead singer of Tonight Alive had guest vocals. Jenny and I got really excited when we saw Travis, it was so cool that he came.

They had a very short Q&A session where Stephen(singer) was hilarious. He was bagging Adelaide and Perth and I think I laughed extra loud because I’m a loser like that. I had no idea he was so funny, so yes I'm currently crushing on him. They did a few more songs then Stephen started naming bands he liked and as soon as he said Depeche Mode, I started screaming because it meant they were going to sing Enjoy The Silence. I never thought I would get to hear that song being performed live and it was so good! It was so fun watching all the band guys, they all look so cool up there moving to the songs. They played my two favourite songs, Never Take Friendship personal and Dance, Dance Christa Päffgen. I must say DDCP was my highlight of the night, words can’t describe how I felt during that song. Ah it was so amazing, I was crying on the inside because I was so happy. I really did not think they would play it. After another song they went off stage and the room when dark again. Everyone started chanting for an encore. The band came out again and played Fin and it was beautiful. I’m so glad they taped the show, because I regret not taking some videos. I really can’t wait to buy the DVD.

After the set was finished we went over to get our bags then jenny and I bought t-shirts. The two of us along with Susan and Julia then got posters and went to get them signed. Nate (drummer) was first and I really wanted to say something to him, he said hi so I said hi then he finished signing the poster and looked up and winked at me so I was a little lost for words (yes loser alert again). I was about to go to the next guy but this girl came through to get a photo with them so I got out of line and went to the end of the table to collect my completely signed poster. We hung around for a bit then saw Stephen so I went up to him and told him the show was great then asked for a photo, got one but he said to take another one because he blinked so got another photo. We then saw Nate, Deon (bass) and Christian (guitar) at the bar talking to people so we waited. Once Nate was free, Jenny and I got a photo with him. We wanted to get one with Deon but he left and Joey had left already too so we waited and got a photo with Christian. I was a little upset I didn’t get to talk to any of them properly so I told myself I would talk to Stephen. We waited while he talked to people, I then asked if we could get a group photo and he said yes so he had his arm around me while we waited for Susan and Julia to get to the side of him then got a photo and that was it. Curse me for not being able to talk, I wanted to say something to him but couldn’t.

We went out and got Hungry Jacks for dinner then got picked up by Jenny’s dad.

Overall the show was unbelievable, seriously one of the best nights ever. Definitely in my top 3 concerts, it was so amazing and I’m so glad I got to go. Really can't wait for the next time I get to see the band.

By the time we got to Jenny’s house it was late so we just talked for a bit then slept. I had to wake up early to go to uni so I left in the morning and got to Morwell. I had to wait an hour for my bus so I was having lunch at this Asian place when I noticed camera crew outside. Sam Newman was there filming for the Footy Show and everyone there was getting really excited. The rest of the day was just uni then going home and me being extremely tired.

I still have so much to write but I’ll do that in my next post and it’ll be dot point because as I said, I’m lazy.

Playing The Blame Game

I watched a movie the other day called Hunger. It’s about some Irish Republican Army members who were imprisoned and I didn’t know anything about the conflicts between Northern Ireland and Britain so I did a little bit of research and got the general facts.

I don't think I'll ever see this movie again, just because it was a really hard movie to watch. I found a lot of the scenes disturbing but powerful at the same time. There wasn't a lot of dialogue in the movie and some scenes seems to drag but I think it was a very well made film. There was one scene in the movie which I thought was great, even though I couldn't understand all the dialogue (curse the DVD for not having subtitles). This scene went on for a little over twenty minutes, seventeen of which were filmed in a single shot. The acting was very impressive and it just felt so natural.

UGHHHHHHHH so I heard Hot Chelle Rae are going to support Taylor Swift on her Australia tour. So fucking annoyed, I was hoping to see them every time they came to Australia but there is no fucking way I am going to buy a ticket for Taylor Swift’s show. Bands should stop touring with singers and just tour with other bands, FUCK THIS!

While I’m happy Panic are coming here, I’m also upset because it’s for a music festival therefore their set list is going to be short which will most likely result in them singing only the popular songs. Also they’re now headlining which possibly means that there is no way to meet them. I know I should just be happy I’m going to see them but still.

Onto happier things, concerts next week! It’s so exciting seeing tweets from the band guys about being in Australia. I still have to figure out what I’m going to tell my parents about Monday night, I’m sure I’ll come up with something.

Bad thing though is that all the things that are due next week, I’ll have to finish this weekend, but it’ll be worth it.

Hmm don’t really have anything else to say

The Consequence

I should be studying right now because I have a test tomorrow but I’ll do that later.

Uni really sucks now probably because I’m really behind so I have a load of work to do and I’m always so tired.

Didn’t exactly do much last week

I got extremely addicted to X-Men Evolution and I’m already up to season 4 after watching it for a little over a week. It’s so good though! I’m going to be upset when I finish season 4.

I had a dream last night where Cameron Leahy was my cousin and I was all argh because I found him attractive

I got a new camera for my birthday but I didn’t like it so my dad went to return it and he ended up ordering this other camera and that won’t come in until after two weeks

UGH!

I need a camera for the concerts next week and now I’ll have to use my old camera dammit!

I am very excited for the concerts

Ah oh gosh the Anberlin setlist is 30 songs long, isn’t that crazy, it’s going to be an epic show.

We The Kings and You Me At Six is two days after Anberlin and I’m looking forward to that one because wtk are awesome and I’ve never seen ymas (really looking forward to their English accents). The bad thing is that I don’t know the words to any ymas songs even though I’ve listened to them a lot, also don’t know the words to the new wtk songs because I haven’t listened to the album yet.

A new trailer for The Woman in Black came out and I think it’s a brilliant trailer, much better than the last one. I haven’t read anything about the movie because I don’t want spoilers but I do look forward to watching it but damn it doesn’t come out until next year.

If That's Alright With You

Got woken up at 6 on Friday morning by my parents who wished me a happy birthday and gave me a card, chocolate and money.

I went back to sleep then woke up again and went to Dandy Plaza

I got a free Boost then bought a ticket to watch Captain America

Yes I was alone but it was alright because everyone else there apart from a couple were alone too.

I liked the movie

I became happy when I saw JJ Field in the movie, even though he wasn’t in it much but aah he’s so cute!

(damn there are no decent screen caps of him)

Chris Evans was perfect as Steve Rogers (and may I say easy on the eyes)

I really liked the character Howard Stark (yes Iron Man’s father)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Peggy Carter played by Hayley Atwell was so pretty and I really liked her character

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The rest of the cast were good too, the plot was decent nothing amazing but it was entertaining so overall a good movie

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The ending felt a bit rushed but that's understandable because they had to set it up like that

I rate it 7/10

I went home after and was getting ready

Sharline came over to pick me up so I quickly cut a cake with my parents then left

Once we got to Vivian’s house, Vivian, Susan and Jenny greeted me with a very colourful cake

Susan also gave me this amazing TARDIS pencil case that she made, I’m completely in love with it but don’t know if I should use it because I don’t want to damage it

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We looked at Susan’s photos from America and were listening to her talk about her trip

Sneha then came

We continued with the America stories

Susan told us they came across a filming location of Blue Collar and they got to see Matt Bomer!

I had risotto for the first time which Jenny made and it was really good

Jenny, Sharline, Susan and I then went to Safeway. Sneha went home

Back at Vivian’s place we watched a few random videos then Susan fell asleep

Viv had this app on her phone which changed your voice and it was hilarious because there was this creepy voice which we used to scare Sharline

Jenny and Viv then fell asleep so Sharline and I continued talking and I scared her by telling her about a movie.

(I don’t have any photos because they’re all on Susan’s camera)

Next morning Susan left at 9:30, the rest of us stayed in bed for a while then had crumpets for breakfast then left.

Jenny, Sharline and I went to Safeway Liquor because Sharline wanted to buy something for a party she was going to and we saw this flavour of Vodka Cruiser that intrigued us, Sharline ended up buying it and I’m really curious to see what it tastes like

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Once I got home my parents left to go pick up the new car (it’s not brand new but yes my dad sold his car and bought this one) so I was home and I was supposed to do work but I was on Tumblr and then I had a headache because I hadn’t had much sleep so then I fell asleep and woke up when my parents came home.

We went out for dinner because we couldn’t go on my actual birthday.

Went to this Viet place in Springvale, hadn’t been there before and it was pretty good.

So yeah that was pretty much my birthday

I can’t believe I’m twenty.

Guts

Monday

Had a normal uni day then during my lab I asked a girl if she could drive me home but she couldn’t because she was going to stay over at someone’s house, so this meant I had to take the bus. I was complaining about getting the bus to the acquaintance I made the week before when this guy sitting opposite me went “ I can give you a ride of you want”. He was the new guy in my class who was actually a student at Clayton but came to my uni on Mondays for anatomy. I felt a little weird saying yes but he told me he was heading back to Clayton so it was fine. We talked pretty much the whole car ride, he seems pretty cool. Talked about uni and movies and other general things, I found out he’s been to 43 countries so I was amazed and jealous at the same time, he also lived in London for a few years. He dropped me off at Dandy station and told me he could give me a ride on Mondays so that was nice.

Tuesday

I skipped three lectures in the morning to finish writing my oral (I felt bad for skipping). Had my oral, it wasn’t too bad and the class finished an hour early so instead of waiting for the 4:50 bus I got on the taxi at 3. A girl from my class got on too and we started talking. She was in a few of my classes last year too but we never really talked. On the train we talked more (well she talked and I listened). She was just talking about her life but it was so interesting because after she finished year 12 she went to New Zealand and lived in a convent for 2 and a half years as a nun. So she was talking about why she thought she had to be a nun and how she decided it wasn’t right for her anymore and it was all very interesting. She also told me about her family, she’s got eight siblings! I got picked up from Clayton by both my parents because my mum had the whole week off and my dad took Tuesday and Wednesday off. I love it when my parents are home and I have school/uni. I really don’t know why, probably because I get rides to the station and get picked up and I don’t have to help with dinner because everything is already done.

Wednesday

I woke up to go to uni and thought I can’t be fucked so I got out of bed and told my dad I wasn’t going to go and he said ok and went back to sleep. We were all home so my mum was like why don’t we go out for lunch and have yum cha, I said no because I had to finish my lab report. I can’t believe I said no to yum cha, I regretted it . My parents were out of the house for most of the day so I stayed in doing work, didn;t really get much done but I finished my lab report so that was ok. I got a call from my friend who told me the lecturer said I have to come to the workshops, oh yes my Wednesday workshop got moved from 10 to 4 so I threw a little hissy fit because it has now fucked up my timetable but I went and talked to one of the lecturers and she said it’s ok if I don’t go to the workshops but according to the other lecturer I do have to go so I got annoyed at this. I also got an email from that lecturer for missing a tute that day for another subject (she didn’t sound too happy). So no more skipping Wednesdays for me.

Thursday

Finished my lab an hour early so the demonstrator let me leave, this meant I could get home an hour earlier. Yeah Thursday was a little uneventful I got home and didn’t do a whole lot.

Friday

My cousin came over at night and I watched Masterchef, my niece slept over. At 6:30 in the morning I woke up to take Scooby out then when I came back my niece was awake so she kept talking and wouldn’t let me go back to sleep.

Saturday

Cleaned a bit and didn’t do any work because I was either cleaning or my niece wanted to play with me. I thought she was going to go home but my cousin called and said she was going to stay another night. We went to a family friend’s house at night and I was in the room talking to my friends but the little kids were super high and were being so annoying so we told them we would play dead fish and that we were going to be the judges and the winner gets a prize. We left them there for a while and continued talking, my niece actually fell asleep.

Sunday

The morning flew by and I did nothing, my cousin came and picked up my niece. I did nothing and it’s already 4 now. Masterchef Finals tonight! I’m excited but also sad because now I have nothing to watch every day but this is probably a good thing because I might get other things done. Uni tomorrow and I haven’t done my work yet ugh.
