A day late

I never got to write a Halloween post, I was somewhat busy that day doing non Halloween related things. We had this prayer thing, I don’t what it is in English but anywho had that at my house on Sunday so all the family friends were over and the only dressing up I got to do was wear Indian clothes (yes I know, not exciting at all). Had to wake up early and help around the house, most people left and I went to sleep for a bit, woke up and the doorbell rang, there were two tiny kids, one dressed up as Batman and the other as Spiderman. They were so cute! The rest of the night was spent with my little cousin who made me draw pictures for her. We then started singing random songs, mostly Christmas carols. We started singing the 12 days of Christmas and found out we were both singing different versions. She knows a bogan version ‘’One the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a kookaburra in a gum tree’’ really...

Well As you all probably know I love Halloween and have ALWAYS wanted to celebrate it but it’s hard when you live in Australia and have parents that have their anniversary that day so you never got to go trick or treating as a kid.

I thought I would share with you a couple of costumes I’ve always wanted to wear for Halloween; these are my top two costumes.

Count Dracula

I know vampires are totally out right now but I mean the REAL vampires, back in the days when they were cool. Dracula has always been the character I most wanted to dress up as.

My second character is

Velma Dinkley

Yes from Scooby Doo, but this would be cool if I had people to dress up as the other members of the Mystery Inc.

Also I had my first exam today, 1 down three to go!

Remembering Sunday

I miss what Sundays used to be like.
Wake up late
Have a late lunch
Watch a movie (or 2)
Parents would then nap after the movie(s)
While I would read or go on the computer
That feeling of being completely relaxed without having to worry about anything
I miss that
It’s all different now
I can’t remember the last weekend where it has been just me with the parents
No going out
No one coming over
No more lazy Sundays

Everything I ask for

So I’m done with uni for the year minus exams and I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since high school finished, boy does time fly. I feel like I have accomplished nothing this year and my head is a little more screwed up than last year as I am undecided with what I want to do with my life but let’s hope I figure out something soon. Less than a month till exams are over, which means exams are coming up REALLY soon, I should probably start studying. I’ve been trying to look for a job lately and lordy it’s frustrating, I’ve applied to a few places online but I need to go out and hand in my resume. It’s annoying because most of the available jobs are in the city. I found out today that my Grandma and Aunt are coming here on the 27th, they’re staying for three months and I’m not exactly looking forward to it, I never really like it when people are over. I seriously hope that I don’t lose it while they are here. My Aunt is the kind of person that can get on your nerves and I’m horrible when it comes to controlling my temper so I’m afraid that she’ll say something and I’ll lose it and my parents will kill me. Remember Bubble well I can no longer look after her because we’re going to Sydney for a week during the time I was supposed to look after her so now no more dog for me which SUCKS because I was looking forward to it so much! Onto happier news I just found out All Time Low are coming next year! I know my few readers don’t really listen to the same sort of music as I do but if there is anyone out there who wants to go tell me (Ok Jenny this is mainly directed to you because I know my other readers don’t know them, I don’t know if you like ATL but if you do, do you want to go?).
This is totally random but watch the video it’s so cute!

That green gentleman

I finally got wireless at home which means I can go on the internet on my laptop.
First thing I did was connect it in the theatre room so I could watch a video, (John O’s face look good on the big screen) the rents caught on so they came in and started telling me to put on these Indian songs. So I sat there on youtube putting one song after another, we took turns to choose the songs and then it was my turn.
‘’No English songs OK’’
Damnit
So I put on my favourite Indian songs.
‘’Can I put on just one English song?’’
‘’Fine go’’
I put on It’s almost Halloween
My dad groaned
I started bopping along to it
He started bagging Brendon Urie as usual, I ignored him
The song ended and it was back to Indian songs
I enjoy these little family sessions because they’re so rare now.
I forgot what else I was going to say.
5 weeks till holidays!

The Silence

On the train ride home this old lady sat next to me for a little while, I turned around and looked at the side of her face and there was a patch of fleshy looking skin, it looked like someone peeled off some of her skin. I was slightly disturbed by this and it didn't help that I was picturing different scenarios such as maggots coming out of it and I HATE maggots so it creeped me out even more. Then the lady stood up and I imagined her collapsing into a pile of flesh (It happened in Supernatural). Once she left I could breather again.

Onto something different now

I went to Coles with my dad and as soon as I walked in I saw big ORANGE pumpkins
This was the first time I had ever seen orange pumpkins in real life and I got REALLY excited and I think I weirded out my dad a little. But then we talked about pumkin carving and oh it made me so happy. If you're thinking what the hell it's just a pumpkin, then you are correct but the whole orange pumpkin thing excites me because it reminds me of Halloween and I have had a slight obsession interest in that holiday since I was a kid. It sucks that Halloween isn't a big event here, I've always wanted to go trick or treating or go to a Halloween party and I've had that same costume in mind for years. One day hopefully I'll have that Halloween party I was supposed to have last year

Sweet Talk

Tim Burton has been my favourite film director for a few years now so naturally when I first found out about his exhibition opening in Melbourne I was excited. I didn’t get to see the exhibition until the day before it closed.

S,J, Nug and I made our way to Federation square at roughly 10:30 that morning and found quite a lengthy line outside the ACMI centre. Overall we spent an hour in line but at last got let in. The next session was at 12pm so while we waited we went into a small exhibit they had on the evolution of television and films. I thought it was pretty amazing, they had Cate Blancett’s Oscar in one of the cases which was awesome, I tried to take a photo but kind of failed.

At 12 we went into the exhibit, put our bags away (which meant no cameras) and first thing we saw was a giant deer hedge sculpture, next to a tv screen playing segments from Edward Scissorhands. Below this was Edward’s outfit and thus began the fan girling. We walked around looking at several of Burton’s drawings he had done and lordy is that man amazing.
The walls were lined with sketches he had done throughout the years and each one was fascinating. I loved reading the little captions or rhymes he had written next to the pictures. There were cases which held clay figures used in some of his stop motion films. I watched Vincent for the first time which is a short clay mation about a boy who wants to be more like Vincent Price. I loved it.
There was another screen which showed his version of Hansel and Gretel which was bizarre in a good way, all the characters were Asian which was something different. As we walked more, we saw more figures and I may have gotten a tad excited when I saw the clay figure of Victor from The Corpse Bride. Oh how I want a toy of Victor but they all cost so much.
They had costumes from Alice in Wonderland and gosh the detail in each costume is incredible, like with the Mad Hatter’s clothes he had a sash kind of thing with small thread reels and his hat! Ah it looked fantastic. I’m clearly running out of adjectives here to describe how wonderful it all was.

We ended up leaving around 2:30 then made our way to look for a place to eat. Thankfully J had her phone so we found a place. After lunch we all wanted something sweet and since J and Nug hadn’t been to Max Brenner before we decided to go get chocolate licks. First we went to Coles and bought a punnet of strawberries which we took with us and sneakily ate them with our chocolate licks.

We discussed holiday plans while eating and can I just say I am looking forward to this summer oh so very much. 6 weeks please hurry up.
This will most likely be my last outing until after exams so maybe I should actually start doing some work now so time will pass.
Overall I had a very enjoyable day and I am definitely happy I didn’t miss the exhibit.
