Slow Dance Night

I started and finished a tv show a few weeks ago called 'My Mad Fat Diary'. I found out about it on tumblr and had the first episode on my laptop for a little while. One day I didn't know what to watch so I thought why not try this. I got hooked pretty soon into the first episode and ended up watching the whole series that day. There are only 6 episodes so it wasn't that crazy. I'm completely in love with the show. It made me laugh, it made me cry and I don't think I've ever related to a character as much as I do with Rae. I HIGHLY recommend the show. It really is worth the watch. I don't think series 2 comes out until next year so until then I will be eagerly waiting for it.

First trailer for Catching Fire!
I think it looks AMAZING. Really excited for the movie. It's interesting that they've only put in the stuff before the Quarter Quell but that will probably be for future trailers. I think my only issue with it is how little Peeta was in the trailer, I mean I know it's all about Katniss but there was more Gale than Peeta in the trailer and I'm sort of worried about what they'll do with his character in the movie. I just hope they do give him the development that happens in the book.
Also REALLY hoping they've filmed this normally, meaning no shaky cam and weird camera angles.

Also the first Thor: The Dark World trailer!
Although Thor was my least favourite of the Avengers movies, I'm still really looking forward to this because I love the character of Thor. The trailer makes the movie look really good, it looks like this will have a lot more action sequences than Thor did. Sif was in the trailer a couple of times so I'm looking forward to her because she's so great. Also Loki of course. I would have liked less Natalie Portman though but obviously that's not going to happen because their relationship is supposed to develop in this movie (HA what relationship I say because I really didn't like this adaptation of Jane because Natalie Portman was terrible and had no chemistry with Chris Hemsworth).

I know this trailer came out a while ago but I never talked about it. It's not what I was expecting. I guess I never really read what it was about which is why. All this time before watching the trailer I thought it would take place after Wolverine Origins and would be about his first time in Japan but obviously that's not the case and it's set after X3. Either way, I'm looking forward to it. Wouldn't it be great if at the end there was a link to Days of Future Past (wishful thinking I think).
I'm not even going to start talking about DOFP because that will probably require a whole new post (which I am going to do soon) about me rambling on about various things. Just know that filming begins SOON. Bryan Singer has been killing me with all these tweets about filming and photos of some of the actors. I think James McAvoy said he's flying out to Montreal on the 27th so if Bryan Singers tweets a photo of him or Michael Fassbender I will completely lose it.

As for more movies (from Marvel). Iron Man 3 came out! I'm seeing it on Sunday and I'm excited. I've been avoiding the tv spots and reviews so hopefully I won't see any spoilers.

Does anyone know how to make the video sizes bigger?

I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me

I had some errands to run in the morning so I didn’t end up getting into the city until later than I would have liked. I picked up my ticket from Julia and arrived at the Palace Theatre around 4:30. I was expecting a long line but not as long as the one that was there. After following the winding line I reached the end and sat in an alley on a milk carton and waited.  More people started arriving and soon enough the line had already filled up the alley was in and was making its way around to another street. I didn’t have much to do so I listened to other people talking and I heard someone say Fall Out Boy weren’t coming on until 10 which seemed bizarre because doors opened at 7:30 and no one knew who the opening act were but surely they couldn’t play for that long? I also heard people talk about how they were going to be on the Project and a couple of girls were going there to see them.

Priyanka came around 7 or so and brought me food which was great because I hadn’t eaten until the morning. A while after she came we went inside and the floor had about four or five rows of people so there was no way I would be able to see the stage from there because everyone was tall, so we went up to the first balcony and had a perfect view of the stage. Fall out Boy weren’t starting until 9:40 so we had ages to kill until then so we bought t-shirts. They only had 2 designs and I didn’t like them that much but I ended up getting one anyway, now I’m kind of wishing I bought the other t-shirt but I always do that, yes anyway.

The supporting act were these two DJs…yeah. They came on at 8 and were playing until 9:10. It was a little bizarre having DJs at a concert. Most of the songs they played were rnb, hip hop, and mainstream stuff and let me tell you, it was totally the wrong music for that crowd. There were a few people getting into it but majority of the crowd were just standing around sort of like “what the hell is going on?”. They did play a few songs by bands, not many and that got a bit of a better response. They weren’t bad DJs; it just wasn’t the right thing to have. I don’t know why they had them, they could have gotten any local band to play and that would have been better.

After they finished it was time for FALL OUT BOY! I was beyond excited; it was basically all I was thinking about the last couple of days. They came out and played Thriller and my god they were AMAZING. Just everything about them was perfect. They played a heap of songs with a mix from their past three albums and it was so great to hear those songs live.

My photos are beyond crappy. This is the best photo I took and it's pretty bad so yes there won't be photos up.

I got a couple of alright videos which made me think why didn't I just film a lot more stuff. It's annoying because I have the start of a few songs but not the whole thing, apart from What A Catch Donnie. Still the audio on the videos aren't the greatest. My old camera had really good audio which is a bummer that this one doesn't. Anyway.

Andy was amazing on the drums, Joe my god his guitar solos were incredible. Pete was so funny and kept swearing and Patrick, don’t let me get started on him. I’ve had a crush on him since around year 10 so getting to see him and hear him live was the best and oh gosh his little dance moves were so cute and hot at the same time if that’s possible.  But that voice. Dear lord, he sounded perfect live.

Oh there's also another of my more 'decent' photos.

They didn’t talk as much as I would have liked but they were still funny and completely adorable. Pete did the most talking and Patrick would say some things too. At one point Pete said MELBOURNE like how Americans say it and Patrick corrected him and I thought it was funny. They would have these random stories that would lead into songs. At one point Patrick was talking about the song they were going to play next and said “this is the best song we’re going to play tonight”, then started talking about the 80s and how this song was one of the best things that came out of them, then went “apart from me of course” and he laughed and lordy. The song was their cover of Michael Jackson’s Thriller from Folie A Deux and Joe’s guitar solo in that song was one of my favourite things.

My shipper heart went a little crazy over Patrick and Pete because they would go up to each other and be adorable.
They were talking about how they loved that we had the same anthem as them, everyone was a little confused until they started singing the start of Grand Theft Autumn.
Andy and Pete turning in circles while playing, I don’t understand how they do that, it’s so cool and so fun to watch.

They started talking about doing these hands. Actually here watch the start of this (not my video)

Those hands during My Songs. Okay it doesn’t look that great in that video but it was so amazing. I can’t forget how it was during that song, they lit the whole place up during the chorus so you could see the crowd and everyone’s arms moving and from where I was standing it was brilliant. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. It was one of those moments where you look around and everything just felt so great.

I wish that video had Pete’s speech before they sang the song. He was talking about the title of their next album and about music in general and stuff.

Oh also, someone in the very front row must have had a sign asking them to play Sophomore Slump so Patrick read the sign and told the other guys. He said they hadn’t played that song in a while, then played it which was so awesome of them.

After singing Sugar, We’re Going Down, they went off stage then came back for an encore.  Pete had changed his top and was wearing a singlet now so this girl behind me was going a little nuts.
Pete was saying this story about a one night stand he had with someone but it was to set up for Thnks Fr Th Mmrs because he said something about her saying ‘he tastes like you but sweeter’ .

Their last song was Saturday (which got my shipper heart going again because Patrick pointed at Pete during the 'Pete and I attacked the lost Astoria' part) and Pete went into the crowd during the song which would have been amazing if I was at the front. A great way to end a fantastic set they had.
We hung around a little while after the show but couldn’t stay so didn’t get to meet them. Although it was a bummer, I was still incredibly happy I got to see them.
I found out later that some douche made a noise complaint about the show so the police ended up coming which meant FOB had to leave, therefore not many people got to meet them after the show. Why would you make a noise complaint about a concert!?

Anyway, in conclusion, I feel unbelievably happy and lucky to have seen one of my favourite bands and hear my favourite singer perform live.
I’m already eagerly waiting for their next show.

My Beautiful Rescue

I've been a bit behind on news in the music world because of me going to India and I didn't really catch up on things like I only found out today Brighten put out an album in February. So that's another one on my list of albums I have to listen to.

Today I also found out that This Providence announced in February that they are no longer a band. I guess I was kind of expecting it because they hadn't been touring or recording but I was hoping they were just taking a break and would be back. I'm really upset over them breaking up, I just kept thinking I would get to see them again and was waiting for them to come back here.
I got to see them in September 2011 and the bad thing is although I knew who they were, I hadn't listened to them THAT much. After seeing them at counter revolution, their music was pretty much the only thing I listened to for ages and I grew to love it so much, even now, I listen to their albums and it's just so great and I thought I would get to hear those songs live again. I guess I should just be happy that I got to see them. I do wish I had some videos of them though, but I guess I will always have that memory of meeting Dan at the airport.

Here's to another great band that is no longer. Also I need to mention how much it sucks that they weren't known as well as some of the other bands out there.

This Providence, you will be sorely missed.

I wish things could be like how they were in like 2006 when all my bands were still together. Those were the days.

Anyway, before I stop typing, I thought I would leave you with one of my favourite This Providence songs.

This ain't a fairy tale and I don't think I'll ever be...

I had a pretty terrible day today. I'm not really sure how it started but I was feeling extremely down and just felt sick of everything to the point where I had to fight back tears at times.

This song made me feel a little better when I was feeling extremely low and it reminded me of how grateful I am for music. I really don't know what I would do without it.

Cheers to The Maine for another incredible song. Can't wait for the new album

Alpha Dog

I’m going to start this talking about the Mayday Parade/We Are The In Crowd show because I never made a proper post about it.
Jenny and I went to the airport and saw everyone there, we didn’t have to wait long for them but we didn’t end up getting to talk to all of them so we just got photos with a few of them.
We then went back to jenny’s place then back to the city to line up for the show. We were the first ones in line so after a couple more people came, I went to MC to get food then headed back and stood in line while Jenny went to volunteer for the Myer gift wrapping. It was bloody hot that day so I was dying a little waiting to go inside. Jenny came back and we got inside the venue and got to be right in the middle at the barrier. Best spot I’ve ever had at a show before. The whole show was great. WATIC were pretty great even though Tay sounded like she was losing her voice a little. Mayday were so great and I was so happy they played Everything’s An Illusion.  I got pushed around pretty badly though even though i was at the barrier. There was a guy who kept trying to come up next to me so he kept pushing me and it was painful, damn people. It was funny but sad because Derek shook/touched EVERYONE’s hands except mine and Jenny’s. You would think he would have done ours because we were right in the middle but it seemed like he got everyone but us two. After the show we hung around at the back of the venue and after a while we got to meet all of Mayday apart from Jake which sucked because he’s my favourite, and we only got to meet Mike from WATIC. We talked to Mike a little then got photos with the rest of them.

Oh yeah they took a photo of the crowd and just...my face.

Something that happened while was in India. FALL OUT BOY ARE BACK. Yes I know it’s old news now but I didn’t mention it in my last post. I didn’t find out about it until later because of my lack of internet but oh lordy it was the best thing. I was so happy so I kept telling my cousin about it and I know he couldn’t have cared less but he listened. Anyway we’ll get back to this later.
--
The day after we came back from India, we went to pick up Scooby from my cousin’s house. He got all happy when he saw us; it was so good seeing him after so long. I sat down on the couch and he wouldn’t get off me for ages. When we got home, it actually took him a little while to get adjusted to things because he seemed to be missing Buffy (my cousin’s dog).
--
On the Monday, Sharline came over at night. We talked and she told me about her Japan trip and then we put the Oscars on in the background. I wanted to watch it live that day but my ma was making me unpack so I missed it. They were alright this year; it was Sharline’s first time watching them.  I don’t think we ended up watching a movie that night. Just stayed up talking till late. The next day I can’t really remember much of what we did but we watched some Supernatural then she left.
--
My ma went back to work so I was back to being home alone and it sort of really sucked those few days. I had gotten used to being in India so I felt like I was losing my mind a little because of how quiet it was. I felt a little isolated and I was missing people back in India, I just needed a while to get used to things again.
--
I went to Susan’s house then we went to pick up Celina and drove to Mary’s house for Nug and Mary’s party. It was a ‘game characters’ themed party so I went as Pac Man. We were in Mary’s backyard and the place was set up all nice. It was cool because everyone has dressed up and some people had really cool costumes, unlike mine. We talked and ate, there was so much food it was so great. We all went inside to play this game, oh lord I’ve completely forgotten what it’s called now but it’s a sort of card game where each person gets a card with a role and its like werewolves and villagers and other characters and yeah it was a little complicated but interesting. I think there were too many people there for the game to work out properly but we still managed. After that there were speeches and cake then I got driven home by Jen.

--
I missed going to Soundwave which was a bummer because there were some bands I really wanted to see, like Paramore, All Time Low and Sleeping With Sirens.
--
Sharline came over and we started watching Supernatural, while we were half way through the episode, Nug came over and watched it with us even though she had no idea what was going on. We watched Silver Linings Playbook which I thought was pretty good. We then started looking at random stuff on the internet like always and I ended up telling Nug about Bollywood Queen which made her really want to watch it so she tried looking for torrents but we had no luck.  After that, they helped me make dinner which was just pork chops and salad. Then we had rock melon for dessert. Sharline had to go home after that so Nug and looked at more stuff on the internet then watched House at the end of the street then watched Penelope.  Nug didn’t wake up until after midday the next day so when she woke up we had brunch and watched the Graham Norton show then she had to leave.
--
Uni started again and it’s back to same old. I can’t believe it’s been 4 weeks already, it really doesn’t feel like it. There isn’t really anything interesting  at uni so we don’t have to talk about that.
--
Went to my family friends place for one of the kid’s birthdays and it was good seeing everyone because I hadn’t seen a lot of them since my birthday. One of them is married now which feels a little strange. The dads called us into the backyard and told us we had to try darts because everyone else had and the winner would get a prize. While we were waiting for our turn, we were all getting a little high on sherbet sticks. It was my turn and guess what, I ended up winning because I got the green mark just outside the bullseye. Check out my prize

I found out what my skin condition is. It’s called Dermatographic urticaria and it is thought to be caused by “mast cells in the surface of the skin releasing histamines without the presence of antigens, due to the presence of a weak membrane surrounding the mast cells. The histamines released cause the skin to swell in the affected areas.” According to wiki

Bit of a shoddy picture but you get it

Okay back to Fall Out Boy, so while I was in India I found out that they were coming here for a show but I found out too late so tickets were already sold out and I was, to put it lightly, devastated. Really upset I couldn’t because you know; it’s fucking Fall Out Boy.
I tried not to think about it too much but last week I got a message from Susan asking what I was doing next Wednesday night and whether I wanted to go to the FOB concert because Julia was selling her tickets. Obviously I got really excited but I was faced with a few problems such as who i could go with and telling my parents and all that because I did have a full day of uni the next day and I wasn’t sure what their reaction would be like but you know I was actually planning on lying to them and not telling them about the concert at all. Fortunately, after a couple of days I got this all sorted out, found someone to go with, told my parents. My mum was completely okay with it, at east i think so. I sort of went, hey ma I’m going to the city on Wednesday to go to a concert and she was like don’t you have uni the next day? Yeah but I’ll come home, I won’t be late, and that was that. My dad was a little different, ma told him about the concert the next day and he wasn’t too happy about it and started lecturing about the usual stuff but then after a while I think he felt bad so he was fine with it. I don’t know why I always get so worried telling my parents about these gigs, I mean I do this every time, get really nervous but then things end up being fine. Anyway, I’ll make a separate post about the concert.
It was amazing so now I have a serious case of post concert depression. It must sound so strange to people who haven’t experienced it and for me, it had been a while since i’ve had a case this bad so it really does suck.

Anyway, lets skip ahead a bit to Good Friday.  I got into the city and met up with Sandhya at Flinders. We walked over to the flower clock and then met up with Jenny, Ayanthi, Susan and Sneha. We went up the hill to where we had our Good Friday picnic a few years ago. The weather was pretty cold but it was so much fun. We were being our normal strange selves and ended up having a couple of Easter egg hunts. While Ayanthi and Susan were hiding the eggs we were covered in a blanket so we couldn’t see. It must have looked so weird to other people, oh well. Something hilarious happened but it was a ‘you had to be there’ kind of story for it to be funny so I won’t say it here.  Ayanthi, Sneha and Sandhya left for a little while to get water so Jenny, Susan and I stayed there and talked. The others ended up taking longer than expected because they went to Fed square for a bit.

When they came back we packed up and went off to find a place to have dinner. This took a while because trying to find parking was a hassle once that happened we went to Swanston Street and ate at a place I have forgotten the name of. It was full downstairs so we went up and were the only ones there which was pretty cool. Our waiter guy was pretty funny; he was really sarcastic and would say stuff about some of the dishes. I ended up getting pho because I was craving it. It was so good having it that day because it was so cold outside but I couldn’t finish my whole bowl.
--
Easter Sunday we went to Lilydale lake for a family friend gathering. It was pretty nice there but the weather was so cold so that put us off a bit. We took Scooby walking around the lake and it started raining so we all got pretty wet and Scooby got really dirty. All the dads and the guys started playing cricket so Priya, Varsha, Aishu and I sat near the lake and talked.

When I got home, my parents left to go to my uncle’s house so I gave Scooby a bath. Priya, Varsha, Aishu and Akshay came over after a while and then w e left to go to KFC. Akshay’s driving oh god, it was pretty terrifying. We then went to Pizza Hut then back home. We didn’t realise how much food we bought, I don’t think we finished half of it. We put on random songs on youtube while eating then Akshay kept putting on the Pussycat Dolls which was funny.  Akshay left after a while and the rest of us put on Les Misérables. It was probably not the best thing to put on the movie so late so I was struggling a bit to stay awake despite the movie being interesting. I did manage to stay awake throughout the whole thing, I can’t say the same about the others.

--

Jenny and Sneha came over and we had lunch. Sharline came after a while and we started making macarons (we meaning 99% of the work was Jenny). Sneha had to leave a little while after we made them, then Susan came. We started making dinner which was a veggie pie and started talking about how we could survive a zombie apocalypse. I don’t quite remember how this started but I seem to have had several conversations on this matter.  After dinner we took Scooby walking and it was funny because Sharline was wearing her onesie but there was no one outside to see her. We settled into the theater room and watched a video we recorded almost exactly one year ago. That made us laugh a lot because dear god what were we thinking when we made that video. We decided to take a photo exactly like the one we took last year. After this we watched Frankenweenie which I really liked.

On Saturday it was Thanh’s birthday party so I took the train to Armadale and met up with Nug then we went to a newsagents to see if they had playing cards, they didn’t.

After getting a little lost we finally found Thanh’s brother’s apartment. It was so cool! I really liked the place. Jenny, Susan, Bonita and Monique were already there so we ate and talked and took photos. We had Golden Gaytimes for dessert and Susan went ‘I’m golden for a gay time’ which made us all laugh. We played scrabble which is probably the first time I’ve played it properly so I wasn’t very good but Nug was my partner and she was amazing. The game lasted a little longer than expected to we didn’t have time to play Cluedo which I was looking forward to. After Thanh opened her presents we left.  (I didn’t have my camera so all the photos are with Thanh).
